Finished wetsanding, whats next? Buffing tips?

Well I just finished wet sanding the orange peel from the entire car with 3m 2000 grit sand paper and I would like to get the shine back. What will I need to buff the car in order to get shine back? I only have an orbital buffer to do the job. Is it possible to do the job with an orbital buffer? Will I need any type of compounds, polish, and wax?

Thanks,
Rpettway

Not to sure how well an orbital buffer would work since I've never used one. I've never used the 3m Perfect It either but it seems alot would agree that it is the rubbing compound of choice for getting the 'ultimate' shine back in the paint.

If you're into elbow grease,, there are also a few hand compund you can use to do the same.

I can tell you the you will need a rubbing compund (preferable liquid) and a glazing compund(also liquid) to get your shine back. Usually something with a high RPM (like a grinder/buffer) helps better than an orbital,, but maybe someone else has some better advice for the equipment you have

The choice of the pro shops would be similar to a Dewalt DW849 variable speed buffer using a 9" lambswool pad and 3M Perfect It III compound first step at 2000 to 3000 RPM followed by a foam pad and 3M Machine Glaze at 1800 RPM.
