Speedometer...

I have a 92 z28, 25th anniversary, and my speedometer only goes to 110. I have seen other 92, 25th anniversary's and many of them go to 140. Now is this because they have been changed or are they production errors or something??

The 305 TPI 5 speed cars had them because they are a lot faster and need that 140mph speedo!

No, I really doubt that a 305 would be faster then a 350, top speed wise at least. The only reason yours might be 110mph is if the original broke and was replaced.

Also try posting this on teh History/Resto board, soembody there might know

no- its hasnt been replaced or there were no errors, ususally the lower budget, less optioned camaros particularly the RS's and some Z28's got the 110 speedos, the ones with 15 in rims, 305's and autos. the ones with 350's and stick 305's with 16 in rims got the 140's but thats not always true, the 25th anniversary RS camaro with 16 inch rims got 110 speedos, its mixed and matched, overall its the quicker cars that got the higher speedos

I don't really think it's the package. I think Imports is onto something with the 305/5-speed idea. I have a 86Z that came with a 305, carbed, yes carbed/5-speed. I've got a 140 mph cluster, stock. If you look the T-5 trans has a taller overdrive than the 700R4, .63 to .70. Since the manual trans also requires less power to turn, that would mean more power availible to use for top speed. These two things would make a manual trans car, all other things being equal, faster than an auto trans car.

EDIT: After reading the above post I'll add that my car is a absolute base model Z28 with T-tops, 15" wheels and all.
