Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
Hey all! I've been looking for a rear window louver for my 85 Trans Am for some time now. I noticed that there are several different brands and looks for the louver. I'm asking everybody with a louver to post a pic and mention the brand of the louver. I think this could help people decide which is best for their Firebird or Camaro. PLEASE DO NOT POST IF YOU DO NOT LIKE LOUVERS!!! WE DON'T CARE!!

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
Mine are rough looking, they need to be repainted and re-riveted, but anyway here's mine.. On and by the way, in the summer time they were the best thing EVER. They kept my car so nice and cool when it was sunny.. It was the best $80 I ever spent..

Does anybody know how these stay on? They have the clips that go around the hatch top but they don't have anything else so they fly all around. Thanks

Please post the brand when posting a picture and please keep the thread on topic. Thanks!!!
BTW, i think there is some double sided tape to keep them from flying off.
OK, back to topic... GO!

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
Thanks, bought the car already done up like that.
There are these metal brackets that are glued/taped? on the window, then there are 6 screws (3 each side) that screw the metal to the brackets. It's sort of hard to explain.

Yeah....me too!
I keep posting that I want a set but no one wants to sell one.
Classic industries has the metal and plastic ones both single and three pc but the shipping to ohio is more than the louvers themselves. If you are closer to cali than I am maybe try them
Jeff
PS any body have a mint set for my show car they want to sell and are close to cleveland ohio?

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
On the bottom of them there should be a pair of brackets that are suppose to be double taped to the window. There should be a bolt that holds it to the bracket, that what keeps it to the hatch. The bracket on the top & clips on the side should be permanently on the louver.

Hey man, your car looks SWEET!! One of the best stock looking 91-92 Z28s Ive seen on here.
And yes, they were a factory option...you should covet yours, only 4800 had them from the factory in 91, and only 1800 in 92!

Wow I did not realize how rare these are. I was going to get rid of the louvers when I got the car. The boby shop that repainted my bumpers asked if he could repaint them and leave them on to see if I like it.. So I said sure.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I read this thread and I am amazed how times change.
Back in the day, at least around here louvers were hated as much as big park bench spoilers are today. But from the posts I see here, it looks like they are making a come back. Maybe the next time I get a project car with one on them, I should not remove it.
Nice thread, it really has opened my eyes.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
You can see my post above when in 2008 I too was looking for a set. Here is what was involved for me to get my louvers. I bought three sets, one in Grand rapids, one in Columbus and another in Pittsburgh. From these three sets I built one good set. I have over 400.00 invested in my louvers. Lot's of work is needed to get a set into show condition.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
Has anybody here ever put on a set of pre-91 lovers on a camaro with the third brake light inside the back glass?
I like louvers, but I really don't like the way it looks with the cut out fo the 91-92 brake light. I would imagine the light would still be seen perfectly fine, even if one or two strip of louvers was over it.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
There are some great cars in this thread.
Has anyone ever put a set of louvers on a 91-92 that don't have the brake light cutout? I'm not entirely fond of the cut out for the light but love the way the louvers look on our cars. I know it wont be a fitment issue, I'm more worried about if it will look bad when the brake light illuminates and shines from inside the louvers.
