QUIT CALLIN CAMAROS AND FIREBIRDS RICE!!! HOLY ****, every damn post i read starts out really informative, then turns into somebody not agreeing with it so they call it "rice" rice is a term for japaneese. it means honda, acura, dsm, hell you could call my moms dodge Ram D50 rice and i wouldnt care, know why? its a mitsubishi. (says on the tailgate "imported for" in the huge dodge logo) as far as i understand, there wasnt a single F-body born in japan. and ya know ricers? they get pissed when you call an american car rice too. because they try make thier car look like it came from japan. and the ones that come from japan actually kick *** . like the 98-00 impreza WRX, over 300hp. and still cost less than what a base model Z28 costs. they may not look as good, but they are fast.
Anyway, its getting really annoying when every post you read turns into a big rice fest where everyone is calling everyone rice because of what they have done to their car. your F-body is not rice until you drop a friggin integra type-r 4cyl in it. and hell it might move it pretty well if you did. it would just sound like sh.t. can we just quit the name calling? i thought this was a tech site. how is anyone gonna learn anything if all we do is insult eachothers taste? now im not saying dont state your opinion, but rather than "ohh thats sick, why the hell would you do that? thats so rice!" why dont you either dont post or say, "it might be cool of you did it this way" or "well i wouldnt do it but this is how you would do it..."

Nice try but it just ain't gonna happen. Too many egos, too many people who think they have the epitome of taste - or rather are the epitome of taste. To me, the term rice means poser. You've got stickers proving how fast you are. You have huge spoilers to keep the @ss down at high speeds - on your front wheel drive car. You're posing as something you most definitely are not. Some of those ricers will flat out hand our cars their @ss and make us like it. Of course, I'm talking about cars like the 300ZX TT, the Turbo Supra, etc. {I can see it now, all the posts detailing how someone spanked a Z in their stock RS} Nobody would call those cars rice in a derogatory fashion - not if they had a brain.

I agree with Scaufiel too. Rice is posers with useless hang-gliders bolted to the trunk and retarded ground effects that do nothing, and stickers and lame wheels. This goes for thirdgenners with that crap too. That's what most of us are bitching about.

I think if you like it go for it. I will never meet one of you guys on the road so as long as I like it I do it. You guys would have a feild day with mine. I have a nice big SLP window sticker and the rear Rockford Fosgate sticker. Sealed beam conversion(you know that is rice)cause they are way brighter. A big factory 91 wing oooooo that just screams rice to some people but hey I like it and as long as i like it I keep it.
By the way....what a lot of you call rice should really be called french. Some people look like they went on a huge shopping spree in the french section of Canadian Tire but hey they like it so what the hell. You got the cash all the power too ya!

Your car doesn't sound like rice at all. You have an SLP banner. Do you have SLP products on the car? Most ricers with their 50 decals don't use the products.

I agree, to each his own, but I just have to correct that info on the Impreza WRX is not even close to 300hp. Its 227 and thats with 14.2lbs of boost. Also the BASE msrp is 23,995, and I have never seen one that cheap.
I just test drove one and will probably buy it (for the wife). They are pretty quick, but still dont have the muscle car feel around town that my iroc does.

I admit that I think the WRX is fugly looking, but I'm not sure I'd call it rice. Any 4 banger that has over 200ft/lbs of torque has my attention. I do like the older version with the more rectangular headlights (as opposed to round like now) though.

The WRX sold in Japan does have over 300 horses and allwheel drive. The just water all the car down before it comes to America. The American version is 227. I say do what you like just down go overboeard with anything. Moderation is the key to life.

it appears my post kinda steered in the wrong direction, my point was that rice means japaneese. i mean you cant really argue with that. i mean its RICE. and i didnt think there are many countries that grow rice other than japan/china. (aisa) but that point didnt really matter. the main point was to quit b!+chin at people because of what they have done or want to do to thier car. i would gladly bet that out of the 8000+ members there is some guy with a kandy red paint job with the hideous swirls and 13"x12" wide gold daytons on it but he is scared to post because people will laugh at him. and im not gonna lie i would think the car is nasty, but i wouldnt post that i thought its gross. now about the guy who wanted to raise the car 2-3" in back, personally i think its fine to make fun of that

yea the new wrx is pus$ as$ 227hp, and the old one was the one that was a bad as$. i know a guy in australlia that said when the WRX came out it was out running all the cop cars in every way so the cops got WRXs. (the more rectangler lights that look better.) and the old ones were illegal in the US because the were too cheap for how fast they were. now the VR4, thats a badass, or the TT Supra, or TT 300ZX or Lingenfelter TT vettes,
!!! but thats a diffrent type of car. and its just better. wow is better in every way. oops now im rambling. sorry. god damn i want one of those. i would sell my first 5 kids for one. ah damnit ill quit now.

Huge tachs'... Hmm just about every camaro I see has one of these no matter if they have the stock V6, 305 or a mild 350. So Sorry to tell you that you have alot of 3rd gens and later camaros to bitch at.
I have seen many a 3rd as well that have MSD, Hooker, SLP, Flowmaster and others that do not have the equipment but sure enough have the 5 buck sticker pack...
Ok now for the ground effects...Well not even gonna go there...we all know that 3rd gen abuse anything they can get for ground effects.
And although they are 4th genners I have seen many with massive wings...and I have to laugh when I blow past them like there standing still...
And to all the import haters...there are more out there then you realize that if they came from japan with no restrictive mods they would blow us away with no problems. And the WRX can get upwards of 500 ponies with headers, upgraded turbo and fuel system... There are also a few 1st gen eclipes' out there with turbos that can run 10's all day long, and did I mention they are AWD and scream off the line?... Lets see the real performance imports... Acura NSX...Nissan twin t...Toyota Supra turbo, Single and twin...Subaru WRX...Eclipes turbos...Mitsu 3000 GT turbo...turboed hondas even can give us a real fight if there done right and thats just to name a few... And just about any of these can hand us our asses and could care less...And just remember that you can throw on nitro and so can they and still be faster...

someone always says that there are rice cars out there that can hand us our asses. But you know what the difference between those cars and our cars:
NATURAL ASPIRATION
NO RICE CAR IS FAST WITHOUT HELP FROM A POWER ADDER! I have about 420hp natural aspirated hp and I hate it when someone says their car is fast with a turbo. They should take off the turbo and see which is the "real" car. Any car can be insane with a power adder. that is what people have to realize that american cars are fast wihtout that crap.

Why are you guys calling the F-40 wing rice? I have a 91 z and I love it. I like the look of the wing look how it blends with the car. It belongs on those cars. Look how the lines line up with the tail lights. Not only that but these (91-92) Z28's are the same as IROCS but with different ground effects. True the wing may slow us down abit but I like it. I also think the power blisters look cool. (Although I would like it if they were functional). But what I don't understand is why you guys hate us with a tiny difference in body style I mean it is practically the same car. Why hate your own Bro?

the f40 wing isnt the 91-92z wing. i think its 18" high, and dosent have the posts. but thats not the point of the post. and about a power adder, who cares if you have one? i was thinking about building the pos 305 out to be a 327 Twin turbo. that sounds wicked to me. im putting NOS on my vette. cuz ya know why? all in all the time slip is the same. if you have 420 NA HP or if you have 420 Charged HP. and seeing as how the cars that are doing high 4s have 7000-9000 horsepower and are charged, i respect it. just think, you car does 0-60 in maybe 5-6 sec? and these cars do 0-310+ in less than 5? oooooooohhh thats bada$$. and honda has a motor in the works right now that dosent have a cam. EVT or something, electronic valves. they say its under 2 liters, 4cyl, that is capable of over 1200 horsepower. thats just damn good engineering. thats what made me start to look at imports diffrently. and we learned abut the engine in my auto class, so its not some BS rumor we heard.

I'm not advocating rice, because it's not my thing. And personally, I can't see dumping mucho bucks into a body kit or stickers, etc. before the thing has *****. But, the body kit, the spoilers, the stickers, the racing seats in a car that runs a 20 second quarter, etc. are all about expression. and about imports being slow, i read an ad about a naturally asperated CRX doing low 10s. the motor? a bone stock prelude motor. no turbo nitrous or any power adder. and the car was totally streetable (except the the bumper cover that didnt have headlights. all they did to the car was lighten the crap out of it. which dont get me wrong, i think most CRXs are POSs. but then a hell of alot of Camaros and firebirds are POSs too. I personally hate the bandit (81??) trans am. mainly because i saw the show. the light up boost gauge was cool though. and it took a 79 camaro to do 11s before i liked it. but thats my opinion, i know there are alot of guys here who love the 2nd gen. hell i know a guy who would rather have his '73, which is really nice, than a 67-69. personally i think he got hit in the head too hard one day, but thats what i think. but i really dont care because as long as he has a f-body he is in the same family as me. and while my f-bod isnt anywhere near cool, or good looking, i still have pride in owning a f-body. and i can tell you right now, i am going to own many more. and hopefully ill have enough for more Y-bodies too.

well the sad thing is that there is no one really taking the turbos seriously in the 3rd gen world. They want cubes... I personally am looking into swaping in a turbo 4.3 like the cyclones/Typhoons had in them. With that I am looking at mid 10's I am hoping... With a little tweeking of course.

i saw a story about a GN doing 9s and all they did was drop another turbo on it. it was ugly but cool. and jim, im sure thay unless i put a 20psi turbo on my car, i couldnt get into 11s without doing some internal work.
i just have the 5-slow
but then the whole altitude being 5233ft probably isnt helping me much either.

1: Isn't rice short for rice-burner, A.K.A any Jap car? How can a car built in either the USA or Canada be Rice?
2: A car that has half the weight doesn't need the high torque a HEAVY Camaro does to get off the line. Of course a 4 cyl overhead cam with variable valve timing and 300HP is going to Beat some Camaros, but they will NEVER get the tourqe! If I put my 305 in a riceburner it would be the fastest car out there. Lets not compare apples to oranges people!

i am not going to put any numbers down. but i saw a couple of weeks ago that alot of the imports that everyone talks about being LIGHT. are more tan 3000 lbs. a few were even wieghted more than 3rd gens.

On the NSX subject.. The NSX is over rated big time.. 80 grand to run 13's out of the box. 30-40 grand will get you 12's in a Vette stock. 20 g's or less for an LS1 puts you low 13's stock. Some minor mods and hello 12's. Just think what you could to to an LS1 if you had 50 grand to spend on the engine! (80k + for NSX 30k for new fully loaded F-body = 50k+ left over for engine mods since you passes up the NSX)
I would love to see an import run 12's, NA in a 3500+ car. Probably not gonna happen much. And how about add a price point to it too just for kicks...

the thing about the NSX is, it wasnt build for drag racing. it is called the best handleing (sp?) car on the planet. you spend 80K on the NSX then another 6K for a decent turbo, and hot damn. the thing would skin vipers no problem. and when it came the who was gonna slow down more for the turn in the road... you would whip anyones a$$. but then im kind of a NSX fan. and i really dont care what you think about me liking it. my favorite car in the world is a '69 ZL1 Corvette, and my favorite new car is a Corvette. (specifically one with either a ligenfelter 427 or lingenfelter twin turbo kit) i would rather have one of those then a viper with a hennesey venom 800 kit. ya know the 833 horsepower 0-60 in 2.7 car. actually might have been 2.3 ill have to read the motor trend article again. and ive been in ferraris and aoston martins and bmws and benzes and audis etc. and if i won $300,000...1st thing i would do would spend $55K on a new black vette, spend another 1-2K on GFX and a 98and up TA wing and then the other 30K to have lingenfelter soup it up. then the home. and then save the rest to pay insurance.

Here's my 2 cents. You people ******* Ricers are just plain racest! There's no other word for it. What the hell is wrong with an Import? Because it's built by a Japaness person? Our 98 Chrysler Sebring LXI has a BIG Mitsubishi sticker under the hood. So what's the point? Alot of Imports are built here in the USA and giving many of us JOBS! There is nothing other than prob. Harley Davison that's built here in the US. And I agree with the post up top. Then if it's about looking fast but it's not, then my 87 Trans Am is Rice! I say that because the idiots at GM stuck a 305TPI with maybe 190hp in a Trans Am that looks like a GTA! What the F**K do you call that? And yes I want to know what they were thinking. Everywhere I go someones trying to race me. Because my car is a Trans AM. But my wife's Sebring has almost as much H.P. as my T/A. Who cares what everyone else does to their cars. i think racist is a bit strong of a term. i dont hate mexicans but i hate seeing a dodge ram with 1.5" of ground clearance with 13" gold daytons that are fitted with 12"wide 30 series tires. (with the big nike swoosh is the worst)
its all taste. i know alot of people that think rice rockets are nasty, but the dont hate asians. and i know alot of asians who hate american cars but are fine with the people that drive them. if you grow up hearing about how american is better, buy american, wont you believe it? they had the same treatment only the other way arround. and about who is better... it goes car by car. who does a better 4cyl? japaneese. who does a better 8-cyl? american. where as they both do damn good 6cyls.
each person drives diffrently. how you drive your car determines how long it will last. not where it was built. there are several NOS and Charger (turbo and super) systems that are tuned specifically to certain engines that wont increase wear on the engine at all. good engineering is the key to long lasting cars. my car has gone 175,000 miles with the last 10,000 not being very easy on it. my friends sisters honda has 160,000 and is ready to die. its all in how you drive it, and how soon you fix minor problems.

about the rice rocket comment, im seriously considering buying a toyota supra non-turbo (they cost less) or a nissan 300ZX non-turbo (same reason.)

its all taste. i know alot of people that think rice rockets are nasty, but the dont hate asians. and i know alot of asians who hate american cars but are fine with the people that drive them. if you grow up hearing about how american is better, buy american, wont you believe it? they had the same treatment only the other way arround. and about who is better... it goes car by car. who does a better 4cyl? japaneese. who does a better 8-cyl? american. where as they both do damn good 6cyls.
each person drives diffrently. how you drive your car determines how long it will last. not where it was built. there are several NOS and Charger (turbo and super) systems that are tuned specifically to certain engines that wont increase wear on the engine at all. good engineering is the key to long lasting cars. my car has gone 175,000 miles with the last 10,000 not being very easy on it. my friends sisters honda has 160,000 and is ready to die. its all in how you drive it, and how soon you fix minor problems.

about the rice rocket comment, im seriously considering buying a toyota supra non-turbo (they cost less) or a nissan 300ZX non-turbo (same reason.)

Yes I guess racest was abit strong. I do think it's all ridiculous. I mean prob. 99% of these people have and RCA, Sony, Mitsubishi, GE, or Panasonic product in their house. So they can't be racest or bias to owning a "American made car".
