Re: Window Louvers?
well as you can see i have a hi rise sorta spoiler myself. i was able to adjust the louver hieght by the back brackets. if it still wont fit me personally id notch them to fit. but thier is a HUGE market for those. and if you dont like the idea of cutting them you can make yourself a hefty sum of money on ebay. food for thought there

Re: Window Louvers?
Thanks for the input so far, they wont fit because the 4th gen wing mounts to the rear window almost like the louvers! i just dont like the idea of destroying them! jeff

Re: Window Louvers?
Do you still have them? what became of the idea. Can you just lay them over the back window and take some pics so we can get an idea of how they would look? I'm greatly thinking about this too...

Iam thinking about this also, I do have the highrise spoiler on mine, so they arent a direct drop in (on) with a highrise?

Re: Window Louvers?
I don't think it would be too hard to mod, notch them to fit even with the 4thgen spoiler... I think if you mounted the louvers to the hatch securely, then mount the spoiler to the secured louvers?

Re: Window Louvers?
from the pic above, I do not see how those would interfere with a 4th gen wing...

Re: Window Louvers?
ya the louvers go to the edge of the window and the 4th gen spoiler goes right to the glass you would have to cut the louvers back or cut the spoiler i did not want t0 do either so i am in the process of making my own to fit

Re: Window Louvers?
I LOVED window louvers....when i was 14.
IMO that's one of the looks that dates our cars and feeds the stereotype fire. The third gen design is truly timeless and modern if you keep it clean. And besides, how many cars in the past decade have sported louvered rear windows as opposed to the late 70's and 80's?
basically, if you get a nostalgia kick or are big on "period correct" cars then go for it. But if you want a contemporary looking car that won't get sneers of "m-----" then ditch the louvers.

Re: Window Louvers?
I think louvers are awesome. I have an 89 Formula, and I plan on ditching the wraparound spoiler I have for it, getting a base Firebird spoiler and going with some louvers.
Basically, I want them because I think that they look cool and different just because they're not too common. I don't care what other people think at all. As long as it makes me happy then that's what matters IMO
Plus, it's added protection from people peeking in to your trunk to see what you have or something lol

Re: Window Louvers?
Yeah, I agree that louvers make these car look so 80s. Being that the majority of them are from the 80s, then.....
Not everybody wants their 20+ year old car to look like a 2010 model. I have a newer car for that.

Just like these look so 60s

Re: Window Louvers?
i got mines from a member on here.....im thinking of getting another set. it may look 80's, but being that my car is black, it blends easier.
Re: Window Louvers?
You probably won't find any sets like mine. I did a nationwide locator search in 2000 and found 3 sets left in dealer inventory. One set was damaged, the other set was missing pieces and then the set I bought. It was the last complete set. I ended up giving them to my father for his car and I started looking for another factory set. All I could find were 91/92 sets with the 3rd brake light like the one pictured above. I found two complete sets, bought them both, and created a 85-90 set. The slats are numbered and 1 slat can be used in only 2 places, so I eliminated the 3rd brake light section and added a slat from the other set from above and below the 3rd brake light. I still have a lot of parts from the second set, but unfortunately, not the hardware. Another member bought those years ago and stole 'em compared to what the price could be today!

Re: Window Louvers?
so Scott, what do ya think my set would be worth? think I may take em off, and though the car was ordered with them- have the build sheet- I might sell them if price was right and it could fund other mods. btw, mine do not rattle at all!!

They're worth whatever someone wants to pay. The prices will vary based on location, demand and condition.
