Painted IROCs + 35" 5-panel wink mirror
I have to temporarily swap wheels due to the horrible tread on my current tires. So I decided to sand down the original IROC wheels and paint em black they came out quite nice. Also added my new rear view mirror. Let me know what you all think

That is an exceptionally large mirror lol. That would annoy me. I hope you are on the shorter side. Whats the purpose of that? Wheels look awesome, black wheels are my favorite.

Sadly the lesser part of the car world uses them, however these are very old school. I got them off a classic muscle car site. My buddy has one on his 72 Nova, my mom on her 68 El Camino

Since you asked, I'll give my opinion.
Yuck and yuck. The black rims don't fit our cars unless they have a polished lip. Again, that's my opinion and I have never been a fan of black rims.
Secondly, the mirror belongs on a car running 24" rims and has a metal flake green or gold paintjob! That mirror doesn't fit the lines of the car at all. Again, these are my opinions and only because you asked!

The wheels look like spare tires, I REALLY wish the black rim fad would die...they look like crap, even with a polished lip. Not just yours OP, all black rims.
That mirror makes your car a complete clown car, where the heck did people get the idea to start putting in big rear view mirrors? Why and how is that cool and how did it come to be cool? For the record, it looks like either a clothes line retractor that would be attached to your house, or a fluorescent shop light housing filled with a bunch of distracting glass.
"y0 dog check out my mirror" "Oh bro that shAt is so hot!"
I don't understand. Would you put something like that in a $100k Benz SL500?
Very tacky, particularly the mirror, IMO.

Re: Painted IROCs + 35" 5-panel wink mirror
I don't mean to sound rude, but if people spent even half the time/money/brainpower used to put such heinous mods on these cars (I'm talking more about the mirror here) to actually fix/improve things that are broken/junky on these cars, there might be a lot more of them on the road still.
What will be the next fad? Unisunvisors to go with uni wipers and huge mirrors? I'd be willing to bet a five-panel mirror will cause you an accident.
Sorry OP, it would've looked better before.

Re: Painted IROCs + 35" 5-panel wink mirror
I understand the purpose of the mirror and I agree that it serves a good purpose but it just looks like one of those semi truck mirrors.
I think if you want to cover blind spots then you should get a mirror that rounds at the ends to get that extra view that you need.

I dont take anything anyone is saying as rude at all. It's an opinion, not a fact, and it's not for everyone. I will say pictures don't do it justice. As for the wheels...they are my spares. They just happen to be IROCs

I think the wheels would look better if the lips were polished, like the wheels in your sig pic.e

Re: Painted IROCs + 35" 5-panel wink mirror
I'm not a huge fan of all black wheels, but if that is something you want, I can appreciate that. For some reason tho, I don't think they look that great on red cars. They look good on blue cars, hit or miss on black and white cars.
I know a couple of guys that use the wink mirrors, I think the 4 panel ones. I use a 17" Longacre convex mirror. The guys that use the wink say they don't like the distortion of the convex and it's more difficult to judge distances accurately. That said, all these are on RACE cars. Last one I saw on a street car was my dad's '71 Galaxy in the early 80's.
Considering most the fads are loosely based on things taken from racing, I'm going to go with "window nets in place of windows"
*edit* Highjack - I've found many people who complain about large blindspots don't have their side mirrors adjusted very well. They have them turned in so they can see down the side of the car. In all my years of driving, the side of my car has never moved. Even in this picture... http://www.fullviewmirror.com/model_1750.htm
... the 'normal view' has a lot of redundancy (the side of the suburban is in both the side and rear mirror). If you rotate your stock side mirrors out, it helps alot to reduce blind spots.

Re: Painted IROCs + 35" 5-panel wink mirror
That mirror is usually found in race cars. They were popular to the SCCA series cars back in the day that's why you see them on old school muscle cars. They do work, buddy has one in his '73 Duster. The rims to me don't look bad at all. I have all black SS 10 spoke rims on the car and love the look. If I was going to spend money on rims I'd want some form of polished lip with a black center though. Opinion's are like *******s...everyone has them. It's funny to read people's insight on certain things without knowing what they're talking about

Finally got the wheels on. I like them more than I thought. Not bad for what they were before and they are only until I get my new rear wheels. I do miss the polished lip though. Maybe I'll add red to these wheels somewhere...hmm.

Honestly, when they were off the car I thought it looked awful. But on the car, they really look pretty good! I agree with the red strips as well though. That would make them even better.

I'm thinking about painting my wheels black with the red stripe on the outer lip. I saw a black corvette at a carshow like that and it looks bad as fock!
