All the ones I have seen that fine are (coarse to fine) emery cake-black, red rouge-red, tripoli-brown, white rouge-white. Different companies may have different colors, but I know the Sears Craftsman Kit, and the Eastwood Co. Kit are the same as above.

The tripoli compound I have purchased from Eastwood has always been white. Your aluminum polishing process is two step when you get to the compound phase. Tripoli/White Rouge.

You want to stay with the white compounds if you can and when you get through DON'T use Mothers, Eagle One, or any other specialty aluminum polish.

Just use carnabu wax BECAUSE the dark rouge's will get in the microscopic pores in the cast aluminum causing a "clouding". Same with the aluminum polishes. They turn the cloth really black and this gets in the pores.
