Paging: ImportsRSloths

i noticed that you work at Maaco and i had a couple questions for you. I am picking my car up today from Maaco and had some fairly extensive bodywork done. IE fixed tears in the nose, quarter-panel damage, rusted out doors etc, and got the whole car repainted with the better prep work and supreme paint w/clearcoat (2 year gloss warrenty). My question is when should i first wax, and how long can i expect it to look good with the right care? The car was repainted blue metallic.

I'm not ImportsRSloths but I can tell you about when you should first wax... wait at least 6 weeks. That'll give the paint time to vent.

Hey,
They will give you a booklet that tells you what kind of care to give the paint.... i think it is around 1 month before you can wax it....... As far as how long the paint lasts, a lot of that depends on what you pay for, but my uncle has a couple he had painted at maaco around 7 years ago(i think he only bought the cheap $300 basecoat/clearcoat), and they still look GREAT!

Imports,

I opted for the Supreme with seperate clearcoat and prepplus. They did a decent job spraying the car, but i noticed a few areas where is looks like they could've sanded some more. The guy told me to wait six weeks to wax. I'll post pics when i get them. Its great to finally have a nice-looking thirdgen!!!!!
