When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your story?

Hey Guys I know how every one has that story about how they found there beloved third gens, Either in a field or from the original owner. So lets post up the stories and pictures of when you bought it, and/or the first pictures you ever have taken of your Car.

Heres mine

This is my 1992 Rs camaro, it has a 305 tbi 5 speed manual and has 155k miles. when we originally had bought this car it was going to be the recieving car from a wrecked 91 rs convertible we had that had been hit in the rear. So I have currently pulled the interior out of it and am currently putting it back the 91 rs's interior into the car. heres some pictures when I bought it.
When I first saw the car.

I live in Houston and we had drove to Dallas To pick the car up. 200 miles. The only reason we did this was because the wrecked donor car was also a 5 speed and we didnt want to convert it.

Thats my story guys so post ya'lls up :-D

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

i searched for 2 months for a camaro before i found mine. i almost wound up with a blue 1997 z28 for 12k back in 2001.
i found my car on autoshopper.com it was down near the jersey shore. 150miles away. i went down thier car was parked in some hotel back lot right on the beach. i offered my price and drove it home 150miles with no insurance, regi, and fake plates. ill near forget that day and ever so often i get goosebumps thinking about the day . i can remember every little detail that day from the weather to what i was wearing to the 20oz pepsi blue i was drinking while looking at the car. good times

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

I got my 92 TA back in 98. I had just gotten promoted to a better job and my wife agreed that I deserved a better car. Having always wanted a TA and always regretting getting rid of my last convertible (70 Challenger), I was excited to find this 92 convertible TA at a local dealer. We went and looked at it. I loved it but decided that it was impractical for a everyday car. My job entailed a lot of driving. So I decided to forgo the car. Kept thinking about it and called the dealer later in the week only to be told it had been sold. Thought "Good, now I don't have to keep thinking about it." Next week I had an out of town meeting which happened to fall on my birthday. I arranged for a ride to the meeting and my wife was going to drive up later and meet me for dinner to celebrate. I'm waiting outside the office only to see her come down the street in the TA. She had gone back and bought the car for me as a birthday present. 10 years later I've lost the wife but still have the car. And I wont make the same mistake this time. This convertible is with me for the duration.
Sorry but I don't have pics as I am on the road. Try to load some later.

dont have any pics but i bought a 91 firebird 3 months back. saw it at a texaco gas station with a big $1000 painted up on the back window and i just had to have it. i got in contact with the owner who lived in the trailer parks and was able to talk her into letting me test drive it. it drove beautifully....but...she really abused the car...trashed out interior to the point that i was almost disgusted and the engine wasnt maintained like it should have been. convinced her that it was not worth $1000 and talked her down to $900.
i have been investing money in the car ever since. just yesterday i got insurance and changed the title over to my name...though i have been driving the car regulary since i have owned it. its going to be a project of mine for the next few years.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

Heres what my 82 firebird looked like when I first bought it, I originally was looking for 2nd gen camaro or fox body mustang but I always like the look of 3rd gens. I had seen the car sitting on the side of the road for weeks, it didn't have for sale sign or anything on it, so I finally stopped and took a look at it and there was a for sale sign on the seat, I paid $1000 for it.
it didn't have any rust on it, the only body damage was the dent in the passenger side fender.

I was 15 looking for my first Camaro. I wanted one of these cars since i was around 13 and always dreamed of me pulling out of my drive way in one going to school. I looked at two cars before then (both 92 Z28) and if I was dumb I would have bought them. My dad was wise and said no and I found the perfect car! 1987 IROCZ Camaro 5.7 Liter, auto clean, no rust really, low miles, new engine and transmission. White with gold decals and black headlights and hood louvers. I loved the car at first sight and remember it like it happened yesterday. I couldnt ask for any other car and I turned down a Corvette for this car. Thats how much I love these cars.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

My addcition to started when i was about 10. I used to always go and buy hot wheels and i always collected 2nd gen camaros. Well one day my sister found a 2nd gen and wouldn't fork it over to me and she found a third gen. Well i hated that car so much. After a little time like around a week i started to like it. Well at about 14 i started talkin to my dad about a car. And i negotiated a V6, auto camaro for my first car. To my surprise i actually got it. It was $500 because the fuel pump went bad on the test drive. So it was towed home. I traded it later on for a truck. Here are the before and afters of that car. 1985 Sport Coupe

Name: bye.jpg
Views: 234
Size: 82.3 KB

Well i sold that truck and bought a 1986 Z28 it was cloned as an iroc but i wasnt told about the clone and i didn't know to much about the. After 8 months i finally got it in my name and drove it for the last month of school this year. Then about 3 months after getting the car licensed i sold it to a member on here in Chicago for $2500.

This has been my dream since about 12. I always remember the stories from my mom and dad about how they used to see irocs and how they were well known. I had always wanted one and so i knew this time i would not buy anything but what i wanted. So the day i sold my Z28 i contacted a guy about my 86 iroc and i talked to him till around midnight and then looked at pics that he emailed me and at around 6 am the next day it was like xmas. I couldn't help it. When we made the 110 mile journey i fell in love with the car when i seen it. $2100 later... i was the proud owner. This is the car that i will always keep. People at the local car shows love the iroc. But never more that i will

My first one was a 92 RS bought it of my sisters boyfriend for 600 bucks it was a wreck when I got it pretty much I got it when I was 15, and fixed I it up, and by the time I got my liscence it was ready to drive... at first I bought the car to just resell it but it grew on me, but I wanted a IROC or GTA so after about 2 years of searching I found the perfect one I do still miss my RS though

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

I currently dont own one but, when i did i was in love with it. My mom and step dad bought it for me out of a junkyard for $1000. They couldnt get it started, turned out to be a bad ignition switch and a starter.

This was the day they surprised me with it. My step dad swore when he first saw it, that it was black

1984 Sport coupe with pwr options and F-41 bumper tag.

And here it is as i drove it until February 2005 when she got totalled by a drunk driver while it was parked on the side of the road.

I am planning on buying another sport coupe in the next year and begin the love affair again!

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

Oh i forgot to mention the weird part! That car was purchased in Fairborn ohio in 1984. It stayed here until 1992 according to DMV records when it was registered in Morristown TN and stayed there until 2002. In 2002 when i graduated High school, i moved from fairborn to morristown, mind you never having any knowledge of this car, and my mom and step dad bought the camaro for me. One year later i moved back to ohio and brought the camaro back to fairborn, still having no idea that we were both originally from fairborn! Like i said in 2005 it was totalled by a drunk driver, less than 5 miles from where it was originally sold in 1984!

I got my first Camaro when I was 16. My dad allowed me to trade his pos 90 Wrangler for a 92 RS. Got it, put a starter in it, flywheel, and a ignition module and it started up.

I bought mine in '00 after spending the whole winter trying to convince the original owner to sell it to me!
It was love at first sight. She looked like new at 45,000kms (27,000miles).

Today she has 117,000kms (70,200miles) and still looks and drives like new.

Also Heres another story of mine. Im currently 16 And am paying off this car with my Dad But Here it is.

Back in Late 2005 I was running across autotrader just like I do every day looking for an Iroc for my dad to buy since he had wanted to get one to get for me when I turned 21. Well I ran into this Yellow1986 Iroc-z that had an all original 305 tpi,tan interior with 37k miles and he was the original owner selling it. See When I had seen the ad It was At night and we were going to look at it the next day. Well the next day I had forgot but we had a wedding to go to and then dropped the plans we had made to go and look at the car. Later that night we had Tried to call the guy who had the car and he said he had sold it. I was crushed but Persistent.

Fast forward 1 Year.

A year later We were at a local car show here in Houston And I had seen this sick Yellow Iroc-z and thought it would be cool to own that car. So I talked to the owner trying to see if he was ready to unload it. We'll it turned out The Guy was sorta tired of it and in a money bind and trying to sell off a few of his Cars. So me being a 15 yr Old kid I picked up his phone number and told my dad about it. The Next day we Called up the guy to go and look at the car and Started talking about its history. He Then Said Well, I bought it from the original owner about a year ago and I'm running out of space around here and its got all the original paperwork to it.
"Its got 40k miles and it hasn't been touched. All I did was put some tires on it." I Was Stoked and amazed that this was actually the same car we had almost bought a year before. SO everything went right and It came back clean. It has Every document from 1986 including a build sheet, window sticker, Oil changes, owners papers from the dealer, receiving papers from the factory etc. EVERYTHING you could ask for. Even Some brand New floor mats (in the box) the original owner had ordered from Gm That say Iroc-Z on them.

Heres Some pictures of the car when we bought it. At the guys house.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

Lets see. I should start at 2 years ago. Turning 16, with a mechanic for a father, i bought my Grand Am because it was too cheap to pass up. But i was left wanting more, so i starting searching for a "real" car. I spent that summer working all i could, and saved up roughly $4500 in the next year and a half, all by my own labor, that is AFTER i paid my dad the $1000 he paid for my grand Am. yea...

anyways, decided i wanted a camaro to match the mustang in the garage. The only generation within my price range was the 3rd gen that we know and love.

fastforward to last christmas (end of 07). There was a promising 85' yellow Iroc that i had been chasing for roughly 8 months, but the owner was kinda squirrelish about it. Finally, early in december, i broke him down and paid $700 for this beauty:

quickly i went to work fixing her up since she was in bad shape. quickly her dirty self became this:

Size: 101.8 KB

I worked for a long time on her, and in the progress, picked up a parts car (88' V6 car) for free, though i had to drag it out from deep in some woods (idk how it got there).

Size: 182.8 KB

i cleaned her up too, and she sat with my baby as i worked hard to repair the yellow car that i loved
Name: DSCF3074.jpg
Views: 229
Size: 118.7 KB

But, as i finally got my yellow baby into the garage, and started getting into the nitty-gritty, i found the work was just going to be too much. I was in over my head for a "fun" project. So i took her back out and spruced her up. Ended up selling her for $900, which had me about even $ wise since i had some parts invested in her.

pics as she was when i sold her:

I dearly miss her and wish i coulda kept her. She was sold sometime in March if i remember correctly. Also, that same month, the red car was stripped bare and scrapped, though i still see her in the yard every time i go out, and that free little V6 junk rustbucket has actually been a car from heaven. I have used no less than 20 parts and knick-knacks (the hard to find stuff) from it on my next car. an 89 Iroc-Z.

you see after i had to sell my yellow car (i wish i still had her even now), i started searching again, and went back to a car i had been looking at almost exactly 1 year ago. a black (faded) 89 Iroc-Z that had been beat and abused on a farm on the Ohio/PA boarder. When i had first looked a year earlier, the guy wanted $2500 for it. no less. I even offered him $1900 but he refused. Fast forward a year later, and the car hasn't moved since. Hasn't even been started. Grass is growing over it and it's in poor shape, but it has some secret redeeming qualities. #1, it spent all its life in CA. That is until the farm, where it never moved in the salt because it didnt run long enough to get on winter roads! that translates to NO rust whatsoever. #2 it was a hardtop Iroc, somthing i have a hardtime finding, and much prefere to the T-tops. and #3, it was a stick. A hardtop, manual, Iroc. I had to get it.

I went with the intention of looking at the car. kicked around the idea of buying it with the guy. He told me it was mine for $1500. I told him i wouldn't pay more than $900 because it sat all winter and needed serious professional help. Then he let me in that he still owed his mother $1000 for the car, and is other car was breaking down. aka, he needed money. He said if i could get the car out of there that day, and pay cash, i could have it for $1100.

2 hours later i was hooking it up to a dolly. looking like this:
Name: DSCF3526.jpg
Views: 220
Size: 115.2 KB

Now, a few months later, i have another maybe $500 into the car. And also, approx. 80+ hours of work (easily), but here she sits in her current form, inspected, street legal, and very stout despite her appearances.

And that's my story so far. But this is it. This car has so many good things about it, there is no way i'm giving up on this one. She's mine to keep. This winter she is being stripped bare inside and out for paint and a new engine (bored/stroked L98) and exhaust, as well as extensive, laborious cleaning of the interior.

fin!

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

I've owned no less than 13 camaros/firebirds in my 33+ years. It started with a 79 6.8 TA that was WAY too fast for a 15yr old kid who thought he knew everything. It has progressed w/several purchases or swaps of a bondo bucket 1st gen (67) that was sold for the next one a 2ed gen (74 z28) that was stolen and stripped. I then went to the 3rd gens an 82, an 86, two 87's back to the 2ed gen (rusty old 79 z28 that got hit by a kid on a cell phone) a 4th gen (2000 z28 that I ended up selling) another 3rd gen 86 then another 1st gen that was just a parts car w/no title that I had big dreams for. I then went through 2 consecutive TA's that were great cars traded or sold for different things. And my current 91 rs beater that finance and wife willing I'll be putting together and returning to stock condition. She's been abused and well used w/197K showing on the OD. The engine is strong-ish for a 17yr old beat up 305 tbi. It has some overheating issues, wiring issues, suspension issues and body issues. No pix as of yet but hopefully that'll change this weekend. I originally picked up the car for 800.00 and firmly believe I over paid at that. But... well when I saw her she spoke to me and I just had to have her. ::sigh::

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

I had always wanted a camaro ever since i was a child and riding in the back of my parent's sports coupe. Fast forward some odd years to a few weeks before my 18th birthday and i bought my first camaro for 800 bucks from a family friend. it was a sports coupe, ragged out, some rust, but i got a 350 put into it and i still hauled *** around town from one girl's house to the next. sadly i blew that motor and scrapped the car, even though it was a rust bucket. 2 or 3 years later i came across many z28s that i had thought about buying, but had not until i came across my car at my old work. I used to work at an auto auction, there was snow covering it when it came into my work, but when i got in and saw it was a manual, and the snow melted revealing the rust and dent free body, I had to have it. I bought the car through auction for $1,985 total, and the car has been mine since. mostly its been sitting in the garage without tags, getting built back up to be a street predator, but it has seen some time on the road. Hopefully it will be back on the road in a matter of weeks.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

When I got my permit (16) I was looking at MK3 (86-93) Supras, 3000Gts/Stealths, 3rd Gens and early 4th gens. Supras and 3000gts were too hard to find with low mileage and lower mileage 4th gens were still too expensive then so i focused in on 3rd gens. Drove 100 in many directions to look at some 3rd gens but they were always pretty beat up. One day I saw a striped Camaro on the front page of the local auto shopper that was at a new ford dealer. My family had bought some cars there before and we had our own salesman and everything. We went to check out the car... a White/Red Heritage RS, 305 TBI auto hardtop with 45k miles. It was gorgeous. The only things it needed were some front spoiler touchup and an oil sending unit. This iswhat it looked like a few days after we bought it:

I totaled it a year to the day after i bought it. I was extremely depressed and looked at a few 4th gen formulas and Z28s in the meantime until I stumbled across my Z28 on ebay. It was in Southern Illinois but it had really low mileage (28k) and was ultra nice looking. The price wasn't outrageous either because its got a 305. Heres 2 of the Ebay pictures:

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

Well, im on my first 3rd gen lol, so most of you got me beat

Im kinda the industrious teen-type haha, worked at an auto-repair garage for a summer job in 07' (last year) and i was 15, about to get my permit, had the sudden urge to get a muscle-type car, even tho i already had an 87' chevy S-10 blazer, and a 95' dodge neon (both 5 spd's, blazer was 4wd w/ big*** mud tires on it lol)

So, my brother's brother in law (his wife's sisters' husband...yea...heh) had an 89' RS that he got in a trade from the original owner (the guys uncle i think) and it had been sitting for a year @ his house, and he needed the money.

So, i went over and looked at it, looked okay, no rust, back bumper had a crack in it about 8 inches long, but hey...no big deal

Ignition was all dicked up, the security wouldn't let u use the key to start it, but there were two wires stripped right on top of the engine that u tapped together while someone inside held the clutch (haha, hilljack ingenuity) to get it to start...had to bring my own battery, which died, so i took it to autozone and told them it wasnt holding charge and got a free replacement (heh...go autozone lol)

Wouldnt start, ended up being cause of airleaks on the intake/carb----it was switched from FI to carb, had an aftermarket holley intake----but every bolt in the intake was a different type lol, and the carb was junk cause it had been sitting and all the seals had dried to nice little dust rings...lol

Anyway, the guy wanted 750 for it as it sat...literally...but i walked away with it for 625

Even got the guy to use his AAA card to tow it to the garage where i worked, but the dingus that hauled it busted the front ground effects off and had them stuffed in the back when he dropped it off...needless to say, he left in a hurry the jack ***...

It was supposed to have a 350 in it, original paperwork and everything was in glove box, but this summer (im 16 now) i decided to beef up the top end and yanked the engine out and low and behold its a 305 and all the stuff i bought ALMOST fit...so i found a 350 block at a friends garage and am now currently putting it together

But its an 89' RS, T-tops, gray color inside/out, 5 spd manual trans, and soon-to-be 357 engine lol

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

It started when I was about 14. I was the punk with a bit of a nerd side, playing trading card games at high school and such when I started getting into cars. I never liked fords and too many of my friends were into mopars (never was one to conform) so I started looking at all kinds of cars. Domestics, Imports, everything.

Well, my best freind's brother had slammed an 87 Camaro into a tree that they had JUST put a brand new 305 and turno 350 tranny into. The car had been laying out in a field with weeds growing around it for about 4 years by the time I saw it (was about 16 then) and I fell in love with it. I started getting flashbacks of when I was a kid... my mom had an 81 Berlinetta and she had tried to buy an 85 z28 after she sold the 81. That's when I started loving Camaros...

I started talking to my folks about getting a Camaro and they said they would help me out, but I was going to help. Well, that soon turned into I was getting a v6, then turned into I was getting a 4dr sedan... then by the time I was about 17, it turned into I wasn't getting a free car period. Well, I started looking at Camaros by myself anyways. I kid you not, dead serious, I looked at around 150-200 third gen Camaros all between $500 and $4000.

This went on up until May 29th of this year. A family members called and told me about an 86 Trans Am sitting out in the next county for $2800. By this time, I was moved out and had a decent job and had some money saved back... I needed a car, but I'm too stubborn to just take what I can, I was paying for it, by god I'm getting what I want. I went out there that afternoon and I fell in love. It wasn't a Camaro, but hey, same thing... I gave them a deposit and the next day I bought it for $2000 cash and drove it home.

Stopped by my parents house to show it off and me and my step-dad started tinkering, working out the little bugs. Got most of them fixed, but when I went to leave... the starter went out... luckily my girlfriend was with me and she had a AAA card and I got it towed home. I was pissed. lol.

Got her home, bought a new starter a few days later when I had some cash, worked out some more bugs and now she's road worthy and I drive her everyday. My lust for a Camaro is still not fulfilled... I will own a Camaro SOON. lol.

Here she is right after I bought her...

First saw a Camaro in 94 when I arrived in Canada. Loved the way the car looked and decided I had to have one. After I bought the car I picked up a copy of "The Camaro Performance Handbook". On the cover was a blue IROC. Decided to paint the car blue. Saw a corvette grand sport with a medium blue paint, and that was it. Took it to a GM dealer a month later to get it painted and install the IROC hood, grid talilights and 92 gfx. Have owed the Camaro since Aug 94.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

Bought mine brand new in 92..drove it right off the showroom floor where they had it all waxed up waiting for me with only 11 miles on it. Now the insides are gutted and she looks like this... with 116,000 miles on her.

The car was my first Camaro ( the new 5th Gen will be my second). My son is now 5 years old and my first Camaro will also be his first; I am using this as a father and son project which we will restore and upgrade together, and when he turns 16 the keys will be his. Only 11 more years till I have to have it finished. Currently we are restoring the interior. New floor pans are on the way along with Corbeau FX1 Pro seats. I will be replacing any plastics that can be replaced new and restoring the ones that can't. Will be adding a roll cage and doing custom door panels in charcoal tweed ( bow tie insert with sort of a triple flying hockey stick stripe)with matching tweed on all the rear plastics. Oh, BTW, anyone looking to purchase a brand new dashpad, Classic Industries is out of stock/backordered. I noticed Larry Dennis lists them? Has anyone here ordered a dashpad from them before?

i just got my first 3rd gen 2 and a half weeks ago. growing up, i always loved sports cars....and the 3rd gen was always my fave. after seeing one of my teachers son's yellow iroc, i really fell in love.

so, at 16, my parents bought me (i know....i suck) a 97 s10 (this was in 98), then for my 18th bday, they gave it to me and said i could do whatever i wanted with it. i've always been into custom trucks and cars, but this one was a 4cyl 5spd, single cab stepside, so i sold it 4 days later and got a 1991 300zx. drove that my senior year of high school, got tired of the very few problems it had, and traded it for a 99 sonoma zq8. i spent 3 years working on that truck, then traded for a maxima.....after that, i had a little beater saturn for awhile....(all i could afford)..

so when that car broke down, i spent the next few months searching for a new car. now, the band i play in, is my career. we're about a week from having our contract with atlantic records signed, so i thought to myself. why should i get some shitty little car that im not gonna like, if im gonna be gone 15+ days a month? so i started working on loan stuff, and found a beautiful 85 z28 with a 383 stroker, repainted, new interior, and some 17" TT2's. well, i couldnt get approved for that much money....but i did get approved for a little bit...

so i searched for a couple more weeks, and right there on craigslist was this 83 z28, with the CFI 305, ttops, black, and 17's. he only wanted $1700. and that included a second carb'd 305, and a 700r4, which needed a rebuild. i went and checked it out, and it was def a project car, but ran well, and rode even better.

so the next week, i went and picked it up for $1500.

and here she is...

i have so much work to do, but honestly, i've never been happier with a car. and im learning even more working on it myself with some friends.

Ok this is mine, was mine dad's he got it and he drove it as his daily car. Sat for about 3 or 4 years and I would take it out to wash it and run it every once and awhile. When I turned 17 I was looking for a car of my own at the time my dad was going to sell the camaro but I talk him in to letting me keep it but I'd have to pay for it to get fixed up. Here is a picture of what it looked like when i got it. Drove it in my senior year to school like the picture below
Things I had to Fix:
Rebuilt Transmission
Redo front end suspension
Replace Steering column
Replace heater core
and a few other broken things
That was the starting list

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

When I was a teenager I just loved those cars. A friend of mine had a 1984 Transam and when I saw it doing burnout for the first time .

When I got my license I was more into offroading and got me Suzuki Samurai, lifted it and put a bigger engine in (I am still into offroading, own a Blazer K5 and a Jeep). But I never got rid of the Transam bug.

I bought my 1986 Transam in 1998, a year after I finished University. It was a treat for me after I got a higher paying job. It had 305HO and some modifications. I used it mostly over the summer time but it got to know few winters (and it surprised me how well it did with studdet winter tires).

In 2003 after it was rear endet at a red light. I decidet to make a complete overhaul. Now it got a new paint, 2002 TA leather seats, GM Performance ZZ383 engine (425 hp) etc. etc. I havent completely finished it yet but I plan on using it next summer.

Well, I just love my TA

I have lusted after 3rd Gens for years, the stance and all that power! lol my husband finally bought me my first one a few years ago it was a 84 Z28, i absolutely loved that car, It was a police car at one time and she was quick, well to make a long story short my husband ( whom i still love) traded it for parts for his 2nd Gen!!!
I was biding my time until he got his done but i got tired of waiting (3 years and his still isnt half done) So i found this 86 Camaro on Craigs List for $500 and we went to check her out, man she was so ugly i had to have her!! I think i have the ugliest third gen on tgo. We have put about 700 into her but she really needs a paint job!!!

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

I had wanted a third gen for a long time. I bought my first one in 1999. It was a 1987 Iroc-Z with a TPI 350. I drove it about 1 mile to get it home and it spun a rod bearing before it ever got there. I parted it out on this site in 1999. After that I told my wife I would some day find her another car to drive in the summer. After 2 failed projects I know I would have to find someting that could be driven wile I worked on it. I found an 89' GTA on ebay for $2800. I bought it and drove 250 miles to pick it up with a trailor. It barely ran when I got it home. Here it is the day it got here.

After alot of work and a little money it is running like a top and looking a little better. Took this pic today.

I started lookin for one around the age of 13 (bought when I was 14 though), I was really lookin for a fox body mustang but well, those were out of my price range so ebay had the "similar searches" to the mustang and there was Trans Am, so I clicked that and 2 weeks later I found the perfect one, an 87 Trans am with 85K on the clock. 305 tpi/700r4, beat up red rusty paint and even worse interior. paid 2,110 and picked it up. it ran really rough due to a bad IAC but quickly fixed that and now she runs like a top.

Re: When you got your Third Gen Camaro Or firebird How Did it Look and whats your sto

wow some grate car beautiful condition form pic, I have had the joy of owning 3 3rd gens, which is ironic do to my family always owning fords. my first baby Could not be saved.86 firebird 2.8 v6, only 87k and the manufacturing day was my birthday 7-16-86 I bought it from my ex gfs mother to get revenge after she cheated on my (she loved that car) but unfortunately I pulled up the rug and everything from floor pans to fire wall was rotted away and to save it was beyond my budget at the time So I bought another. A beautiful 91 t-toped bright red firebird 3.1mfi with 120k.again a lousy 6 but car was a nice price and not to rotted except for the wheel wells which eventually let the strut rip through and so ended that cars life..... sad. Thank god for a new start My third car which is not going to be going any where is a 92 camaro rs 25th anniversary. its a 305 tbi (yay v8) with a 103k. The trani is blown and floor is mildly rusted near driver side door, the t-top are cracked and the owner only put duck tape on the crack and let the water get into the car grrrrrr. My buddy keep telling me I should get another one that's not that bad but I cant. My fiance had just told me that she was pregnant with our second child which was only 2 months after she gave birth. On that same day she told me a guy got road rage and ran me off the road totaling my 92 cutlass supreme 3.1mfi nice car 2 doors I had just put a new motor, the guy hit me put me into a spin and drove off. right before Christmas bad timing.... a friend of mine lent me a truck while we looked for a car. So there i was looking in a trade magazine and I saw her the kid wanted 800 I told my girl who was ecstatic that i was willing to buy a car with a blown trani that if the guy went down to 500 id take it she was pissed lol. So I called the dude and he didn't even give me a chance to ask price he said i sell it for 500$ so yeah i jumped. We drove to the guys home at 10:30 pm saw herd the car run loved it ,hated that is was snowing but none the less gave the guy 250 as a down payment my fiance flipped on me all the way home. The next week I gave the kid the last 250 got the title and a storage space (I couldn't let my car sit out side). Another friend of mine helped me try and toe the car to the storage using a tow rope and my other buddies truck lol bad idea the rope ripped when the camors battery died leaven us stranded on a main road in middle of winter at like 8:30 pm so i had to call a tow truck luckily the guy got there before the police showed up sense my car had no plate and it illegal to tow a car with a tow chain in ny. The best part of that night no one who was being held up but my camaro blocking the road was pissed every one complimented me on how nice it was and how fast they were even the to truck guy owned a few and was quite amazed. I almost cried when we finally pushed the car into the storage bay as I realized I had finally gotten my dream car. The car is still there waiting for me to begin work on it, It starts grate but i cant move it.The car means a lot to me it has been some of my major motivation beside my son every time i get down i just sit in it. It also has sentimental value My fiance and I ended up loosing out second child on July 6th 08 when she had a still birth..... the car is like a part of her seeing i got the same week i found she began her life in my fiances . Now that I have a good job next month im pulling the motor and trani putting new floor pans going to do a sophin cradle and frame rails, and suspension, Im planning to upgrade to 440 hp 350 turnkey engine, when im finished ill probably dump like 20k into her but she has meaning and i love the style of my car so there's my camaro. I hope to have pics soon It's time to go back to school! Get the latest trends and gadgets that make the grade on AOL Shopping.

My first car right after I got it painted:

This is about 2 years after owning it:

Not pictured: Limo tint, black interior w/ GTA black and grey door panels, and 4th gen black and grey seats.I sold it not long after doing the interior, don't really know mhy other then the money, Its one of those things I regret doing in my life so far(I don't have many regrets either).

My New Ride as Of last Year:I think 98k miles, a couple performance stuff, mostly clean.

$3100.00

AS Of about 8 months later:

Did away with the grey interior in favor of black, and im almost done with it. Then I got some clear side markers, took off the plate holder on the front and restored the grille, then replaced the front suspention and added new Z06wheels. Replaced the intake gaskets, cleaned the coolant system along with adding automatic fan switchs. Took some body panels off and got them lined up just a tad better. Then just your basic insane detailing every other day that I have time.

To come: smoke the taillights and add clear headlight covers along with headlights and restoreing the parking lamps. Dual 40 series flowmasters. 4th gen rear(3.42's). New fog lights, and a 3" cervini hood. Clean up the engine bay. New paint in a year or so. Also some new tint.

The hood on the Iroc is a "Cervini 3in", its the best fit and finished hood I have ever seen. After my body guy got done painting my car he liked the hood so much he bought 3 hoods for all of his cars, lol
