Engine bay painting

So i'm in the middle of an lt1 swap motor and trans are out. So i have a bare engine bay and a color that i just don't like, the car is gray with a sky bluish colored engine bay,my final color is gonna be a shade of red. So my question is what should i do about the engine bay now i won't paint the car till the car is actually running and running good. (performance over looks ALWAYS)

Re: Engine bay painting

how hard was it to remove the a/c box? im in the process too, i think you should paint it first before you drop the engine back in.

Re: Engine bay painting

what i did was just clean the crap out of it and hit it with some semi-flat high temp paint. plus it is easy to touch up. gives it that old muscle car look.

Re: Engine bay painting

I am in the process of painting my engine bay now.I removed everything and used a drill and a wire wheel on most of it and a little hand sanding where it wouldn't reach.I also did the K-member and parts while I was at it.

I had planned on going satin black but I wanted to see what the gloss would look like also.Besides eventually the car will be black so I figured it will match better.
