Body Mod Idea.

Hey everyone I had an idea to change the look of the front end of the camaro but I ran into a problem. Take a look at the nose of a thidgen, how the pockets end behind the nose. If I cut the nose up, would the engine and components sit behind the pockets or are they pushed in the nose passed the pockets? I have no way to figure it out since I'm not taking off my body panels.

Basically is their empty space behind the nose like their is empty space from the headlight pockets?

thanks

Not sure if i understand what your saying but... theres nothing really behind the area where the camaro emblem is on the nose. you can pop off the cover by the hood latch to see whats there

Re: Body Mod Idea.

Do not mod the front of your car. The vast majority of these custom mod ideas end up going terribly wrong.

The nicest thirdgens are the clean stock examples, or the tastefully enhanced.

Failing at doing something is better than not doing anything at all.

That all depends on the value of what it is you are trying to do.

It's your car, do what you want.

But, you might regret it, and it might hurt the car's value. The regret is especially true if you are a younger guy.

Re: Body Mod Idea.

Basically I wanted to cut out the nose and make the front look more old school with the lights being flush with the body and not being interrupted by the nose. check out my PAINT sketch..lol

(If IMG didn't work)

Anyways I really like it, but what do you guys think? Of course it looks like crap but if someone could photoshop it, we could see if it would look good.

what do you think? The headlights could also be square, I used the round ones like the 60s Z28.

Re: Body Mod Idea.

i for one, think it has the potential to look amazing, under 1 or 2 conditions.

I think it would look horrible if it was a hack job.

I think it would look horrible if you used billet, You'd need to use some kind of grill like on the old school camaro or the new camaro (same reason i kept my louvered grill, because of all the new retro cars, its starting to make the louvered grill look more modern (in a retro.... kind of way), to me atleast)

If you do it right, itll still be love/hate with people. But its ur car and whatever looks good to you is what you should go with, if i was you i would practice on a damages nose, before you go cutting up your own. Would hate to get 3/4th way not and not be able to go back, and not be able to get it the way you wanted in the first place.

Heres a quick mockup i did for you

Used jeckyls car, hope he dont mind.

Edit: Second mockup with grill

Like i said, it could look amazing. Because the above looks pretty damn good to me

Re: Body Mod Idea.

Wow that's awesome.

Yeah I know what you mean by billet, I hate it too. I was thinking of the oldschool camaro grille when I was doing it, but PAINT has it's limitations. lol.

Re: Body Mod Idea.

that looks alright too, i was thinking maybe of having the plastic behind the grille open to let cool air into the engine bay but i don't know about that.

Another idea is to put a large 1 piece blackout over the empty space so during the day it'll look stock, then you can take if off and have that custom look.

I don't know, I just got thinking and I made up a lot of ideas, Some hits and misses. I'm trying to keep them muscle-y, not tunerish.

Peace

Re: Body Mod Idea.

Lexan..... Heat it up, comform it to the shape of the opening, mount it into the nose with some L brackets maybe? then tint it.... that would look pretty good if done right

Re: Body Mod Idea.

i think it might look pretty good but if your planning on cutting the top of the nose flush with the head lights and making like a "shelf" there then i think you will have to relocate the hood latch and modify the head light bar
