Opinions on blacked-out tail lights

I've been thinking lately of blacking out my tail lights, but I'm not quite sure on which route to go. I've done the spray method on my last car, and they came out great. I was thinking the same for my car I have now (black 87 Iroc Z), or just goin with the black tail light covers that are already made for these lights.

I like both ideas, but don't know which way to go. Anyone have any ideas/opinions or pics? Anything would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Opinions on blacked-out tail lights

third gens have LAAARRRRRGGGE tail lights. I've never really been a fan of blacking them out or making them all one color(red, clear, etc.) since it tends to highlight this fact. It's like a pretty girl that smiles to reveal super sized horse teeth

that said, black cars can kind of get a way with it since they stand out less, but then the rear end looks too plain.

as time goes on many are realizing that our cars were pretty damn sexy right outa the box, especially with the grid tails that should be on your 87. I'd say clean 'em up and keep it stock = less is more.

I like the amber-to-red conversion on the Camaros, then maybe a LIGHT black tint, but still mostly red, with the solid black grids.

Here's a set of the red conversions, but no black out tinting.

I have done both, I think they look better when their blacked out. I had the stick on covers and if you don't check them everytime you drive they will fall off, and they shatter into millions of pieces when they do.

Hobby Lobby/Wal Mart/Etc.

It's a Testors translucent red paint, sprayed on the outside!

My opinion is to not do it. Maybe do the yellow to red conversion with the translucent paint.
