whats the best scratch repair product??
whats the best scratch repair product??
I got some little scratches through my clear and base, but not through the primer. I don't wanna waste time fixin it right or waste money trying to find a product that really works. Has anyone tried any of those scratch repair products and had sucess? I wanna know which one I should try. Also my car is med. red met. (burgandy) and it has been repainted ( if any of that matters). Thanks ahead.
I'd use 3M all the way, go to wal mart, they have a scratch remover and a finish restorer, get both, use them in that order and you'll be very happy with the results (maybe not the cramped hand though)
I would highly recommend the 3M Perfect It scratch remover #39009 (i think, its out in the garage right now) for dark colored cars. I used it on some fairly deep scratches in my mothers black subaru and it took them right out. Just follow the very easy instructions. If you go on the show and shine forum on www.camaroZ28.com there are a lot of posts concerning it.

The above post are right about the 3M products BUT you say you've scratched through the clear & base coat. No amount of buffing will fix that alone.
You need to put a trace of touchup paint in the scratch. Sand down with 1000. Put a dab of clear touch up. Sand with 1000/wet. Then use the 3M Perfect it rubbing compound, followed by the machine glaze.
Here are the products you need:

.... however I'm still not through with the steps and procedures pages.
