How do I achieve this stance?

Hey whats up guys? Ok so I'm new to this site so I'll give a little background real quick. I know after this I will probably never get any help from you guys but hopefully thats not the case.

Anyway I never really liked the 3rd gen camaros I have always been more of a 69-70 Ford Mustang fan but I saw a pic of a 3rd gen last night and so I am now looking for my new car haha.

Alright so heres the question. I saw this pic last night and I absolutly love the stance of the car but I'm not totally sure of how to achieve it. Is it just wide tires, or wheel spacers, or something I dont even know of? I know by reading the thread about the 4th gen rear that if I put one of those in it will make the rear wheels stick out about 2 inches but what about the front.

Thanks for any help, hopefully this isnt just a retarded question.

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

i would think wheels or spacers would both get you that, just depends on backspacing of wheels.
Keep in mind though, with a treaded street tire your gonna beat the hell out of your paint having the steering tires out that far. and you may have some clearence issues when turning, do a lot of measuring...
my tires rubbed up front, i finally had to change tire sizes, the wheels are tucked too far in.
Maybe somebody more knowledgable about the exact measurements of third gens will chime in but I run 275/60/15's on the back and they stick out crazy on the centerlines. the front tires are 155/80/15's obviously not what your after.... goodluck

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

Funny! Today I saw a 2007 mustang, a 1970 mustang fastback and a 88/89 GTA. They were all in good shape but the look of the GTA blew the mustangs away. The stance? Well I notice that the new mustangs lean to the drivers side. that usually due the the female middle age lard *** driving it. The older ones looked like a box and the old ones are just ugly. Then lets look at the 1969 firebird, or the 76 T/A, the 88 GTA, the 02 trans am with ram air. I have owned 2 mustangs, Found On Road Dead describes them to a tee. In my case the stance was tilted up on the back of a wrecker!

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

This one is easy. Find a set of 17x11" wheels with 5.5" backspacing, which is zero offset, then add a set of 315/35R17 tires.

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

I'd avoid wheels that protrude that far out. Like another person mentioned, you'll have clearance issues. Clearly that car is a bomb racer and not being road driven with those slicks.

About the Mustang love, well, nobody's perfect.

Bingo. Looks like a hair lowered (probably weight jacks/something similar or the height equivalent of an eibach prokit), and 315 R compound tires. I seriously doubt that car rubs much. It most likely sees lock to lock turns regularly both on and off throttle (suspension loaded and unloaded). I know I wouldn't want to spend the money on 315 R compounds and then tear them to shreds on the fenderwells. It's probably been clearanced heavily. Which just takes time, hammer, and a cutoff wheel.

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

4th gen rears in 3rd gens DO NOT make tires STICK OUT...They make them SIT OUT FARTHER, but not stick out any (when using the stock 16" rear wheels).

They'll end up virtually flush with the fender lip, but not out past the fender lip any at all.

Except that a 11" wide wheel with 5.5"bs, will sit FLUSH. Hardly worth mentioning. But on a severely lowered car, rubbing might be an issue, with the fender lip hitting the tire sidewall.

My 17" x 9" with 4.5" of bs, sit flush, maybe 1/4" in from the lip. A 2" wider wheel, with only 1" of those inches going inwards, would create the "problem".

Mine stuck out. It wasn't an incredible amount but there was tire outside of the fenderlip. 1/2"-3/4" I'm at work where photobucket it blocked otherwise I'd post a picture from when I was running the stock crosslaces with a 4thgen rear.

Sounds like you had a pair of front offset wheels on the rear then.

Here is a 3rd gen (the blue Camaro, next to my white GTA) with stock REAR offset wheels & a 4th gen axle.

That's cool of you to assume something, but no. The car was absolutely bone stock when I got it. Even came with the slip on spacers on the stock rear drum axle (before I swapped it out.) And no, I didn't put those back on the 4thgen axle. They were rear offset wheels.

Dude u must have just not known how to take care of ur stang's, or got some that where beat down before hand. My 86 stang gt with t5 was stolen. Got it back with a knock, so Before I pulled the motor I burnt the tires all up & down the street trying to blow it. It never did blow. On the other hand the one of four third gens I had that blew was too easy. Point being that its all on how you take care of the cars.

No assumption being made. Just basing it on the many done & shown here on TGO. Yours would make a first I've seen (or even heard of).

I've seen MANY MANY 3rd gens done that way & NONE of them had the wheels sticking out.....When they used a stock rear 16" wheel (not a stock front 16" wheel).

You're arguing a moot point. The original poster obviously wants a tire farther out.

I'm thankful this site has an Ignore List.

Yeah....Really sucks when people point out you are WRONG. Makes it easier to defend your misinformation you share, huh?

How can I be wrong about my own f'ing car that you've never seen? You have a problem with me, PM me instead of wasting board space. Imbecile. If reading comprehension was one of your accomplishments you'd have already understood the fact I can't while at work because photobucket is blocked. I'd be happy to do so when I get home though.

Just because a site is blocked from you accessing it, does NOT prevent you from typing in a link. Talk about imbeciles.....

And when all proxies I've found are blocked? If I really wanted to I could set my home computer up as a proxy but I don't. I could care less about trying to get around a proxy at work. Not worth getting reprimanded.

That one is a bit more aesthetically pleasing and still shows tire outside the fender lip.

Amazingly, mass production items have these things called TOLERANCES. And when tolerances stack up you get extremes. I never said it was common place, just the experiences of ME.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

That is a Panhard Bar problem, not a wheel or rear end problem.

Lemme guess? The OTHER (drivers) side was in as far as that (passenger) side was out?

Even mine (like almost every car) was off center to the passenger side, until I got an UMI adjustable Panhard Bar. Not to mention...Lowering a car only increases that problem.

Re: How do I achieve this stance?

WOW ok where to start. First off thanks for all the info it is really appreciated and when I get the car I will definatly post pictures. Now that you guys brought up the point about clearences I am going to look into that a bit.

Next, the whole mustang thing was kind of a joke, yea they are my favorite cars but I really wasnt trying to start a fight over it. I'm not offended by someone saying they dont like them it's not their fault they have probably always been wrong about everything hahaha just kidding but seriously it is just ones opinion so whatever.

Again thanks for the info once I get a car you guys will surely be hearing more from me. Until then I'll probably just be lurking around here trying to absorb as much info on these as possible.

Yeah, you might be right.

If I had the stock panhard bar on the car and not an adjustable spohn unit. The car got adjustable panhard, adjustable LCAs, LCARBs, bilstein HDs and sportline springs all at the same time. The only picture I have of the other side is this one, for obvious reasons.

Which doesn't communicate the issue because the car is jacked up anyways. You're not always right, you don't always have to have the last word. STFU.
