Yes, you can use play-doh. And if you dont feel like spending any money on play-doh, than you can make a big bowl of dirt with extra rocks in it to remove extra scratches from your car. I do it all of the time.

just kidding, please do not try this.

On a serious note. I dont beleive that you can use play-doh

When I first bought mine, it was expensive...especially at the time where people hardly used them.

At the end, the cost did not matter at all when you end up with the results it gave. It's not like you only use it once. You can use that bar many many times...provided you take care of it.

You will only be spending money on the lubricant...which you would probably need to buy anyway with the play-do.

I've used Clay Magic and Mothers. I prefer Clay Magic.

Just what are the proper steps to using the Clay Bar?

For sarters not all claybars equal. The best two claybars on the market that I have seen so far are Zaino and Mothers. Claying is very simple to use and very effective that will leave a smooth clean surface if used properly. The key to getting good results is to keep the area you are working on well lubricated with a water and soap mix. I use a spray bottle for application and just do small areas at a time. Just glide the claybar across the surface don't use a lot of pressure, let it do the work for you. Also never work on a hot surface this can cause bad results.
