painting interior panels

My 87 Z is in need of being restored so recently ive been redoing everything. ive gotten to the point where i need to repaint my interior plastics, is there any process i should take, should i prime the panels before i paint, or would they be fine to just clean and shoot? does anyone know of a good well known paint i should use, ive got the medium grey interior and i'd like a close match. thanks-

I sprayed my kick panels with $3 interior vinal paint from Advance Autoparts. No primer, but I did make sure they were properly cleaned so no armor-all was on them, and I scuffed them with a scotch-brite style abrasive pad. (I don't know what the real stuff is called, but i used the crap my dad gets at his body shop).

Anyway, here's a pic next to my original unpainted door sills:
