Dumb paint question (don't shoot)
Hi guys, this may be a dumb question, but is it possible to re-clear coat a car without spraying color? My paint is getting a little tired, but the color coat is perfect. Can the clear coat be scuffed up are a new clear coat be sprayed on?
Has anyone of you done that? How was the results? Thanks in advance...

if this is where you're at, I wouldn't recommend it, you'd be better off to spend the extra 100 or so bucks and get a little bit of the same color so the clear has a nice smooth surface to bond with. and its not really any extra work.

Have you tried wet sanding and buffing the current paint? Sometimes that works wonders on original paint. Wet sand with 2000 grit and buff with a high speed buffer and some polishing compound and you may have a brand new lookin paint job for a few $$$ and some elbow grease.
