Is lacquer lacquer?

I know you can't mix different brands of urethane paints, but I was told that lacquer is lacquer (acrylic/acrylic anyway) and I want to know if I can mix different brands together. Lacquer has been outlawed but I managed to buy 1 1/2 gal. of basecoat and 1 1/2 gal. clear (I have several reasons for wanting to use lacquer). 1 gal of b/c is PPG, 1 qt. is RM, and 1 qt. is Dupont. I'd like to mix them all together so the color will be consistent and the 1/2 gal. I should have left over will be the same as what's on the car. I know I could use the 2 qts. 1st but I'd rather mix them.

thx

I dont see anything wrong with mixing similair colors of dupont and PPG...... check the ingredients and see if there the same or close.... if they are i would..... you can use any base or urathane clear on them...... but i know dupont full base has a base coat activator while dupont chromabase has something else (i forget what it is called) and PPG has a different kind of activator.... id talk to a reputable paint shop bye your for this stuff.... dont forget the reducer, clear activator, basecoat binder, and a few other things..... theres a lot of stuff involved in a good paint job!
