Polished turbo rims
alrighty. i know everyone polishes their tpi and camaro rims. but ive got a 89 firebird formula with the turbo rims, mine used to be spare tires (i had mags on the car) but i want to put them back on. is it possible to polish these things? i assume it would be just like doing a camaro rim. anyone got pics of them polished up?
thanks

It's not a geat pic, but I stripped the yellowing clear from mine when I got my car & just lightly polished them out.
Not the best example, but I wasn't going for mirror shine. The only real pain is the sharp edges & getting all the polish out of the grooves where the wheels where machined.
You can take the roughness off by progressivly sanding the spot. Starting with a rough grit (palm sander works well doing this) around 80 to cut & smooth the metal fast & progressing towards a lighter grit then polish it (follow whe plenum polishing or wheel tech article). Doing that to the entire wheel will take the machineing grooves off as well leaving a smooth surface to be polished.
I just used Eagle 1 polish on mine,, they made it thru the winter looking as they do in the pic until the accident,,,

hmm thats a good sign...i want to make mine a mirror shine..so i know it will take time but i think it will be worth it when the rest of the car is done...now for the second thing that was thought of. is there any way to make the center caps not flat gray? a friend suggested the chrome spray paint by testors with some clear coat over it...think it would work (this will only be a weekend/show car when its done)

the centerpiece (on mine) was made of aluminum & was the easiset part to polish. I redulled mine so they wouldn't shine better than the wheels.
