some painting questions
well i want to try and get some body work done like i want to repaint my bird a diffent color (not to much of a fan of red) and basicly i want to do it myself but i have no idea how much paint does it take for a single coat to cover the eniter car. and why im asking is i would like to buy the paint online http://www.eastwood.com/ and would really like to make sure i dont run out of paint half way. i have thought about buying dupicolor from the local store but the paint is a lacquer and i thought it was better to use something else than that. correct me if im wrong, i just want to make sure i do it right and do it right the first time. i know ill need to get primer and may want to put a few coats on of that and a few coats of clear on as well

Re: some painting questions
well i honestly don't know too much about the kinds of paint. but i do know that you wont need more than a gallon, to get a real good coat. but if you wanna do it right the first time. Make sure the body work is solid. remove all the clear thats on it, I just used my DA sander and give it a really good surface for the primer to stick to. then go over the primer again with a finer girt, I only went to 800 but I was doing it cheep as posible. then i went with rustoleum arrisol cans. and it looks pretty good. that was two years ago, i have very little craking, but i rushed it and theres only one coat. thats essentially just spray paint.(with out the clear enamel on it) so its been unpertected for two years now and it still hasn't faded. so if i would get 1 and a half or two gallons of paint and just layer it till you run out. then clear it. but a paint jobs is 10 pecent about actually painting it, its all about preperation and paitents. correction a GREAT paint job. over all if you go the cheepest route and still wanna look pretty decent. I spent 50 bucks on the paint, and maybe 35 on sand paper, thats no joke. rustoleum is amazing stuff. easy to paint with. not to much prep either.
if you wanna see it theres a pic in my profile. its not a great pic but it gives you an idea.
