Who makes those stainless steel SS emblems and how much do they run? Also will they fit right in where the RS emblems came out? Thanks for any info.
I'm not sure whether you're referring to the "SS" emblem on the first generation Camaros, or on the new models. You might want to check out Classic Industries http://www.classicindustries.com , they sell just about everything for Camaros of all years.

They should have RS and Z28 emblems like that. So if you have one of those models, just replace them with the correct ones.

its not rice if his car is worthy of being called an ss. There is a hawian orchard purple camaro that was made into an "SS" with an ss hood, sweet wheels, transam spoiler, and a powerful motor. A car like that is worthy of the ss emblem

do what you want and be happy.Classic industries sucks bad.I can thnk of atleast ten things in thier new catalog that they list but gm no longer makes and they tell you "we cant get it"well then dont show it to me,okay. They are more into and helpful if you own a first gen car.I dont think the ss emblems they have will fit into the 3rd gen ground effects.if thats what youre talking about doing and I bet they cant tell you if they will either. There no to smart when it comes to 3rd gens.

That sucks bad that thirdgenparts does not carry them anymore. I wonder who they were getting them from?
I emailed thirdgenparts and asked the who they were getting them from or if they might know where I could get them. I let ya'll know when and if I get a response.
Well guys, thirdgenparts emailed me back and said the guy they were getting them from quit producting them and they could not give me his name. So I guess were SOL getting info from them. There were like two guys I know of on this board that got the SS emblems, but I can't remember who it was.

i think i remember a while ago, that someone grabbed the "S"s from a S-10 pickup and that they fight pretty decently in the ground-effects. Something to check out.

I have to agree, personally, im building my "vision" of what a 92 ss woulda looked like/been if i had made one for chevy.. therefore since my car was born an rs im going to call it an rs/ss.. the only time i ever think that misbadging a car is "rice" is when like someone else above said, its just a badge... if there's more to it than that i dont see a problem.
sides if rebadging a car is so ricy, The general and Dalimar chrysler are both guilty from the get go.. i-e Olds cutlass-chevy malibu, dodge neon, plymouth neon, chryslerneon etc etc.
belive it or not changing emblems and a few exterior trim pieces has been around a lot longer than the term "rice"
just another .02 worth.

..They asked for help, I dont think they care about we think of their ideas...it isn't our car they're doing it to...so why worry about it? I agree with the "dont call it something it's not..." ONLY if it can't live up to the name...If it CAN live up to it...then more power to ya! Come on guys! I think most of us here are mature enough to respect other people's ideas...imagine a world with identical Camaros & Firebirds?....

one eye jack, id hate to say it cause your probably older than I am, but you lack maturity your easliy bothered by what others do to there camaro. If you dont like what this topic is on this board, dont look at it! Dont give your opinion unless its asked, nobody says you have to like it, people like different things, and thats what makes the car world so fun if everyone like camaro z28s with tpi painted blue with a paxton, the world would be pretty boring, the world of cars is an art it expresses your personality, and what your interest are. Im not trying to be a dic at all, cause I agree with alot of your views on other post, but dont be trying to bring others down cause you dont agree with something. =) and by the way, I think those badges are absolutely beautiful and wish someone would make them, and if anyone finds another who makes them tell me pleeeeeeease, and how much did those cost you at that time

I have been planning to do the same as Purple 92, but with a 91 Teal RS. Of course, I won't put the emblems on until I run Low 13's, better than a new SS.
I have one emblem made already. I took the emblems off my last RS and cut the S's of each side and used a grinder to make them fit well. I called my local Chevy dealership, and GM still makes the replacement side emblems. All else that's needed is some double-sided emblem tape. Nextgenparts sells replacement rear emblems.
Mine will be an RS/SS, too.

I wish I could get a set for my 86 Sports Coupe, except they'd read "SC" instead

Member
I considered getting those, because I already have a built 350, SS wheels, and was getting an SS hood.
I decided not to because since anyone could get them, I didn't want someone with a bone stock RS sporting SS badges to get smoked by a Mustang or something.. then be associated with a "16 second SS."
I think, if the car can back up the SS name with performance, then its fine with me. But if its just going on a stock car that won't even run 13's... no thanks.
Putting SS badges on an near stock RS or SC is like the Civic dorks that put Si or SiR badges on their 4 door Civic DX.

On first gens that had both the RS and the SS packages, the SS emblems took precedence over the RS emblems. There was not a badge that had both RS and SS on it. The cars were, and are still referred to as RS/SS cars, but they were never badged that way.<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Purple 92 SS:

Now here's my two cents about the rice issue. If any modification is done tastefully and professionally it should not be considered rice. When a guy turns his car, domestic or import, into a rolling billboard for the manufacturer of the aftermarket parts he has installed, that is rice. Actually it's just goofy. I've never liked the term rice. It as stupid as some of the things most of you guys consider rice. As far as doing things to a car to make it stand out from the rest, let it be man. If you don't like something you see just shrug your shoulders, laugh, and move on. Why tell someone that you think their car looks stupid? It doesn't do anything but anger the person you've insulted. They don't want to hear trash talk about their car any more than you do about yours. I happen to like 100% factory original Camaros, but I don't see anything wrong with what most of you guys have done to your cars. You won't hear me moan and groan until someone starts tubbing out a 1LE, or making a homemade convertible out of a TurboT/A.
Sorry to rant and rave like this. This is my first time posting on this topic so it has been building up I guess.
