Hood Insulation
If i take off the Insulation on the bottom of the hood will it make the paint peel from the heat of my engine. Or is that insulation just there to reduce sound?

That is a good question.. I have a black car, with ratty insulation.. But I didn't want to remove it if the heat would damage the paint on the hood..

The hood insulation is there for the main purpose of deadening noise. Fast, you of all should know that on a nice hot day with the sun shining on your hood,, there is no way you engine runs hotter than the temp of your hood after a nice sit in the blazing sun. Keep in mind, you're motor is regulated to the temp of your thermostat, if you're engine is running hotter than what the sun does to black paint,, you've got more problems than what happens to your hood paint to worry about.
Just to make you feel more at ease to what I said,, my camaro when I bought it and to this day, has no insulation,, a month or so back a heater hose broke while my bud's g/f was driving it one night,, it got hot enough to make the temp gauge stick pegged (and is still fubar'd) and there is no paint problems.
For the most part, especially with urethanes, temp is not a problem until you get to blisteing heats past 600° which in some cases, a black car on a good hot sunny day can get almost to w/o causing a problem. I'm shutting up now
. Hope that eases your thought some.

I ripped mine out when I did my engine swap... I haven't had any problems yet, and it looks alot nicer when the hood is up.
