Looks like you have a clean complete L69 project, which is hard to find nowadays (especially in ohio)! Personally I wouldnt paint that car matte black, the whole flat black paint thing is a fad, and will leave your car looking dated in a few more years. I would do a stock repaint. Your car looks too clean and complete to do a "rat rod" paint job on it, leave that for beater third gens. Good Luck !!

What makes the 305HO different from the LG4 (which was the standard motor for Z28's, yours is the optional engine) is a better pair of cylinder heads, better camshaft, high flow exhaust, and all L69 cars came equipped with 3:73 rear gears. Also, when preimium fuel is used (91 octane or better) the engine will actually increase the timeing resulting in a few more horsepower. If i recall correctly the L69 was available from 83-85, it was then replaced by the TPI 305 (LB9). L69's are easy to spot, they have dual air intake ducts while the LG4 would only have a single duct.

I would stay far away from the matte, for our age of cars, it looks like primer... only new cars can really pull that off without making the car look unfinished.
Another tip, if you're going black, don't use metallic flake paint, put it next to a regular black glossy car,it looks gray... trust me.

I like your stock color combo, black with gold trim. I have never been a fan of a matte or satin black finish. These cars look amazing in gloss black. I am going to use Dupont 9900 Jet Black paint when I get car repainted this year. It is one of the purest blacks you can get.
