I have an 89 TA which is badged out as a GTA but the black honeycombs and vents in the fender say it's clearly just a TA. It's black on tan and I'm going to get it painted soon. I was thinking of 2 toning it or doing something other than just plain black. I was thinking something like black and gold like the '82 Recaro ed.. Anyone do this or have other suggestions?

 

GTAs coulda had black 16" crosslace wheels, so those don't rule it out as a true GTA.

Either the badges of fenders were swapped, but I'd bet $ on just the badges being out on.

You couldn't get the wheels on the gta any color but gold. Regular Trans am could have black ones though.

 

I'm sure there were dealers swapping gold for black. However in my case, the fenders have the factory stickers on the inside of them with my VIN num on them.. I think the badges are close but not in the right spot either and missing the decals on the sail panels/B pillars. I happily call it a TA but I'm trying to explore my options other than just plain black.

.. I should add my RPO build sheet is "mysteriously missing". lol

 

I think it looks great all black but maybe just some gold pinstiping down the sides accenting the body lines would look great and it would stand out a little better
