painting muffler, prep??

painting muffler, prep??

wut should i do to prep my muffler for painting it black? its well cleaned, but should i sand it? or wut? im pretty sure its either aluminum or stainless.

Sand it down with 220 or 320 then coat it with metal prep, that will take care of any remains of rust. I use Jasco Prep and Prime (something like that). Let that dry then paint with high temp paint. Thats how I did the pipes that hang low before the cats.
