Brake cleaner works ok.. but i recommend rubbing alcohol for the glue. stay away from that worthless wal-mart tint remover. that is exactly how i did mine!

Re: Removing window tint
Hi, this is my first post so I figured I'd spend it on something I'm experienced in. I recently got an 86' IROC Z and it had a terrible tint job done on the hatch glass. My first car (an 01' Celica) had too dark of tint for my state and as a result I received a wonderful ticket for it when stopped by a local cop. After that I learned that a safety razor will very effectively remove difficult tint.
They look like little metal sticks of gum and you should be able to find them in the brief hardware section your local pharmacy for about $2. The blade will be a single edge little thing that slides into the side of the holder, but you can split the tip of the holder to put the blade in sideways as a mini scraper, about 1" or so wide. This is very hand for tight spaces, and the sharpness of the blade ensures you get everything.
Get some black trash bags and windex, spray the tint very thoroughly with windex and tape those trash bags up around the glass, and let it sit for a while (30min to 1hr). Pull it down and scrap away.
Be careful of the heater lines with the scraper, usually you should be able to scrap before the lines and pull the tint in strips off and away from the heater lines.
Hope this was helpful! I've done this on three cars, the Celica, my "new" z28 and a friend's eclipse. Good luck!
