Car Covers
Hello everyone.
I'm looking to get a new cover for my 1989 Trans Am. I've been looking at quite a few online, but there are so many out there. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good one. The car sits in my garage, so I don't really need one that offers outdoor protection. Just one to keep it from getting scratched or dusty. I would like one that is fitted. Any ideas?

Re: Car Covers
JAL,
I don't want to steal your thread but I am also looking for a decent cover. I started to look around before I posted and found your thread with no replies. I'll share my limited experience and hopefully we'll both get some responses.
My Son's '82 spends it's life outside in the GA Sun. The first car cover I purchsed was one of those Kimberly Clark - jobs but it was not their "better" (LOL) version the "NOAH" line. It was the bottom of the barrel verion for about $75. That cover lastest all of MAYBE 3-months. It would probably last 6-mos. in a garage.
The second cover I purchased was a semi-repellant silver thing made by LeBra, marketed by Summit, but now no longer available as LeBra is Out-of-business. That cover was about $100 and has lasted about 1-1/2 years. Would last very long in a garage but really wasn't as soft on the inside as I would like. It rubbed a bit of paint off on the high points of my '78 T/A as it had the same brand/style cover.
My Brother spent a FORTUNE on one of those "NOAH" fitted jobs for his 4th Gen which also stays outside 24/7/365. I think he told me he paid $250 for that POS. Lasted less than 1-year. It really did look nice and was fitted very well to the car... just not really durable. Would probably last several years inside a garage and might be a good choice for you but the price for a great big fitted diaper seems more than excessive.
I've heard of "Cover-Craft" and found some of their covers listed in the $300 range. At this point I'm considering going with one of those. But, I need some input before making that plunge. I am definately getting tired of buying another cover every year (two covers per year if I include the 2nd Gen).
I know it's not recommended but i need something ALMOST Vinyl-Like with a nice soft inside. Yes! I really do want water-PROOF & Fitted. I will pull the cover off after every rain let the car dry and put 'er back on. I KNOW I KNOW.... water UNDER the car can't escape...
I just can't see the benefit of one of these "Breathable" covers that will fall to shreds in a year or so. I want a really nice looking cover that will last for YEARS and protect the car from rain, Georgia Sun & Heat, Pine Sap (big problem in GA), Bird Crap, etc.
Anyone else know anything about covercraft? Got a photo? How much did you pay? I'll go to the top on a really nice cover.... but it's got to be a fantastic guaranteed cover.
Sincerely
Kurt (for Derek's Ride)

Re: Car Covers
Wolf custom fit Duststop gets my vote for an indoor only. Soft as a baby's bottom and fair price. Florida or Georgia sun would melt it in a matter of weeks, but its not meant to be used outdoors. Any cover has an easy life if indoors.
