Need some body work done. Can anyone around my area help? Also need a paint job!!
OK so i need some body work done on a few parts of my car
the MAIN thing will be the rear quarter panel. Pretty much the whole thing. I dont know if i should get body work done OR just buy the whole panel but you guys be the judges. I dont have much money...so this would have to be cheap.Im in northwest indiana By the way, PM me

Yeah i know i went a little crazy on the touch up paint haha. Its the best i could do without having to get the entire thing painted.

ok, if that's the extent of the body work you were talking about, it doesn't look that bad to me. get some bondo, hardner, sandpaper, body file, and a dent puller if you have one. if you don't have a dent puller, you can just use a small nail, a small screw, and hammer and a pair of pliers to do the same thing. ( an old school trick ).
The nail is used to put little holes in the deep dented area I saw in the pics. use the small screw to screw into those a turn or two and use the pliars to grip and pull out on the screw to straigthen out the metal as much as possible. use as many little holes as you need to and don't worry if its not perfect. it won't be. the idea is to get the metal at least close so you don't have to use a ton of bondo on it, so strighten it out as close as you can get it and that'll be fine. sand off the paint down to bare metal and go a little ways past the repair area all around to make sure that youlve covered all of the repair area, and you'll be just fine.
take a piece of cardboard and use a little bondo on that. add just a little bit of hardner, and mix it in until it is of a uniform color and you don't see any streaks in it. put the bondo on in light coats. it should like like peanut butter in consistancy. smear it on and give it a few minutes to harden. start off with the body file, ( it is kind of like a chesse grater in appearance ), and after you've smoothed it out somewhat, take a block sander and hand sand it with some coarse sand paper. feel for high and low spots with your hand, and add body filler if needed and repeat the process. take your time. you;re not in a race and you want it to come out good, so be patient, and do the best job you can. you'll be glad that you did.
once you;ve got it smooth to the feel ( of the palm of your hand ), with no high spots or low spots, use finer sand paper progressively, until you have a reallyu smooth feeling surface under your hand. use some spray rpimer on the surface and let that dry......now do a little wet sanding for an even smoother feel, and let it dry and prime it one more time. once you've done this to all the areas and you're satisfied with the results, you can paint over the spots using thin even coats. add a couple of clear coats to that and basically you're done. you'll have a decent looking quarter panel and wheel well, you'll have saved a lot of money doing the job yourself, and you'll havwe the satisfaction of knowing that you did the job yourself and that just helps to give you the confidence to do even more repairs yourself in the future.
that's pretty much just a quick overview of the steps involved, but before you begin. when you;re at the store picking up the materials you'll need feel free to ask the man at the counter any questions and tips he might have to help you out in this area. he can tell you what grades of sandpaper you will need for the job.
best wishes on your endeavor. would love to see some finished pics as well as some progressive ones whiule you're doing the repairs. *S*
