I do think the firehawk hood is more tasteful than the T/A. Two nostrils instead of four

 

2nd Gen 74-81

Gets my vote for the "ugliest"

 

Best looking imo is 98-02 t/a but ugliest would be the 74-81 but if I had a 74-81 id rock it lol.

 

I really think that all have thier respective style, one that reflects the years they were made. That said, my least favorite is a 4th Gen. They look like the Chevy version of a Chrysler Concorde or Sebring. The Fire-chickens definitely got the better "genes" for the 4g's.

 

I actually like all of them with the first gen being my favorite, at least GM did not follow in Ford's path of desruction when they created the Mustang II. Now those were some fugly cars, I could not imagine a Camaro II, looking like Honey I shrunk the car.

 

I've always thought the 3rd gen cars were the best looking. I never could understand how everyone loves the '98 to '02 WS.6 Trans Am. I personally think the whole front-end of that car is absofreakinlutely the ugliest design Pontiac ever came up with for the T/As. That silly looking Ram-Air hood just looks weeeetoddid the way it mates to the front fascia.

 

I think the first gen is the ugliest, the first and second gens are just failed prototypes for the 82-84 cars

It's interesting how something small can give it so much balance.

 

82 firebirds are pretty hideous, imo.

4 th gen camaros aren't ugly, just very, very bland. like really bland. people associate that with ugly. the iroc's are wayyy better looking.

 

if you think you can't see out of a 4th gen try a 5th...

1970 t\a-- which is also way better looking than the 2nd gen camaros





the irocs of the 3rd gens. a little better styling than the gta's of the same. i would still buy a gta over the iroc just because i'm a t\s guy

honorable mention to my '11 6.2 truck. this entire truck just rocks. can't believe how awesome the entire package is

 

2nd gens are ugly from the inside out.. the reputation spilled over to the thirdgens and gave them the classic white trash names... yes I will NEVER own one. (the styling ques taken from these years is one of the turn offs when looking at the gxp ..5.3 grandprix)

82-84 thirdgens are pretty bad as well but they were at least the transitioning years trying to leave the horrible plague of the 2nd gen styling and underpowered mistakes this in-itself gives them points.

4th gens are not my thing but I can see how they would appeal to the women (after all that's what dictated the market) the small sway bars lost the tight anti roll the thirdgen had. but the rack and pinion steering is much tighter and more responsive.

No idea what they were on when the 98 camaro came out.. meth? who knows maybe they had a chrysler concord and thought hey I like that fish look... anyway you look at it something just was wrong

Thirdgens just look great. higher models like the formula, GTA, T/A, Iroc, and z28 even some of the later years like 91-92 the lower models looked good too.

1st gens look great as well and I would love to have a 68-69 bird or T/A but They are over priced

If you hate second gen birds that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. However let's not mix fact with fiction. First NO third gen ever outperformed a secon gen equipped with a 400 or 455 motor, so your statement about being underpowered is laughable. They were able to make more power still but the third gens also had more potential too. Second point: If the styling q was so bad they would not have sold in record. Umbers that no third gen had the pleasure of coming close too. Maybe you should look at the production numbers of just the 79 model year alone. Bad reputation? They wouldn't sell if they had one so maybe you saw one to many "****** movies" as a child and got scarred for life or something, but as much as I love my 89 bright red GTA I will always love the styling of my second gen! there are several 3rd gens that out performed the 2nd gens. not just the TTA besides I wasnt referring to the early production years as much as the general span of the cars. it sounds like your into movies yourself or you would know they really were a let down. better yet do your self a favor and see what they ran and did performance wise.


as for sales I cant say as I dont know what "1979" years sold but the general issue was sales have declined through the years. price and economy plays a bigger roll than looks... you think KIA makes stylish cars?

Since 1979 was the highest produced year and second gen cars started in 1970, I would say the sales could not have declined as they went. Maybe learn math? 1980 and 81 were low years do to small engines and 3rd gen anticipation. Kinda like the low produced 1990 T/A was with the remodeled front ends of the 91-92's coming. As for movies? Smokey and the Bandit is voted top car movie ever made hands down and has made the Bandit models worth more than twice as much or more as my GTA. So I have a hard on for second gens? I love All gens.

 

the 73-74 sd 455 performed every bit as well as the TTA, and decimated all other 3rd gens.

2nd gens were good performers from the start and performance diminished as the production years went on. opposite of the 3rd gen.

Camaros sold 282,571 for 1979 and Firebirds 116,535. That's 399,106 TOTAL. The closest is 1984 for thirdgens at 389,895.

the only ones a thirdgen would outperform are the 301 trans ams...an economy engine. a tpi is a vette engine, just like all the other top engines from 3rd-4th.

This poll is somewhat flawed. For the 4th gen cars, the '98 - '02 cars are broken down by two separate models, whereas the '93 - '97 cars are lumped together as a whole. I personally think both cars should have their own separate poll by generation.

 

from the choices i would say the 93-97 design. but most gens have some ugly models. in my opinion, the mid 2nd gen camaro, the 3rd gen sport coupes, all 93-97, all 2nd gen firebirds and non-trans am 3rd gens are ugly. sorry for those that has those, but thats my opinion.

 

I think for me the first and second gens seem more like a muscle car and the third and fourth seem more like sports cars. Just my perception and it doesn't make one better than the other just two different things. Probably why I have a second gen AND a third. If I had the funds I'd own one of everything! Heck I would even go for a Buick Grand National or a Monte Carlo SS of the 80's erra!

 

you're right, but that's not the most egregious error. They lumped the 74-81 cars in together, meaning the big bumper camaros, got lumped in the with the beautiful 77 trans am. I also think the late 2nd gen camaros are nice looking for the time. Sure they are gaudy, but the whole last half of the decade was gaudy

Maximum choices for a poll are 10 and with 5 generations to choose from plus all the variables within the generations some had to be lumped together.

 

Lt1 / ls1 Forth gens are gorgeous So are first and early second gens. Third are alright. Later second gens are the worst. Camaros to be specific. Along with the weird 75 ish firebirds. Ew.

 

i agree, late second generation are the worst. Third's are the best!

 

I used to think all of the second gens were ugly but as I've gotten older my thoughts are changing. I actually like the later second gen Z's but the berniletta (spelling) are still the ugliest!

 

4th gens are ugly(some are tolerable) the 4g bird got the looks in that generation.
Favorites are 70-73 camaro and 87-92 camaro
