cleaning a film off inside of glass, help?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some info on how to get a bad film off the inside of the windows.( and also safe for the rear defroster)
film is from smoking ( yeah i know its bad) and someone wanted to be helpful while i was taking a break from cleaning my camaro. and she grabbed the rain-x sprayed it on the inside too. I just want to be able to see out of em.....glass should be clean like o crap! theirs a windshield their!
I've herd ppl on differnt forums, google, and other places tell me to use
windex- apperently its bad for tint and the amona creates a bad smell
coke a cola- i just think is stupid, and not going to poor it on my window and get it all sticky
water- herd just used that and some microfiber, tried it didn't work
water/white villager mix- i think they are racest! white vinegar? but herd it works....
eagle one - their interior glass cleaner i don't think does a good job to get the film off.
I have not tried clay but do you think that would work? would it be safe over the defroster?
or should i try one of those glass cleaning kits that are like 40 bucks or something?
please help! I have faith in tgo to help me solve this problem!

If it's years of film it'll take some time to get off, I'd still go with the "tint safe" stuff. I use terry cloths, two of them. Spray liberally and wipe immediately all over with one, then use the second to get off the remainder and some of the grime with it. Repeat till done. If the second rag gets too wet, get another. You can do the same thing with paper towels but you go through quite a few, try the blue shop towels they hold a bit more liquid if you don't want to terry cloth it. Micro Fibre cloth is great too, I use that for the final cleanup wipe and leave the grunt work for the terry's.
Works great, I used the same technique at an ASPHALT PLANT with regular windex and I got the windows spotless - we almost couldn't see out of them from the dirt/grime and I got sick of it.
If I can clean asphalt plant dirty windows I'm sure you can clean smokey windows hehe!

I'll post my own research!
quickly removes tough dirt, dust, sap, droppings, bugs, grease, adhesives, greasy fingerprints, smudges, smoke haze, plasticizer film, pollutants, and other oily grime that soap and water can't remove
Cleans auto windshields, windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces in your home and at work
Safe to use on original equipment manufactured (OEM) and most after-market tinted windows Always test for compatibility before using on non-glass surfaces
Cleans glass so well, you'll think it's invisible. Amazing no-residue formula doesn't streak or haze and contains a complex, cleaning formula which is non-abrasive and non-foaming
