Hood on my car
Okay, so I got the factory paint code and bought the paint and had it mixed and everything, I paid a local mechanic to paint the hood, but when it was placed on the car it looks like a lighter shade of the same color? I know this probably sounds dumb but is there any way to maybe make it seem the same color or is it gonna have to stay like it is?

Re: Hood on my car
the reason it doesnt look the same is because when you paint one part of the car you have to blend the color into the rest of the panels to give the illusion of a perfect color match. to do this you more than likely need an actual paint guy to do it

Re: Hood on my car
So, simply get the hood repainted by someone who deals only with painting?
I sadly can't have this done now, I'd have to wait til next summer about..

well you cant just paint the hood and hope it matches, you have to paint it on the car and blend into the fenders and front bumper to make it look right

Re: Hood on my car
even if you are able to mix a batch of paint to the exact same color that the car was painted originally, it still wont match because over the years the car has faded some. Only way to get it to be close it to blend the rest of the panels, or repaint the entire car at once. There will always be color variations with every batch of paint you make.

Yea, I am actually thinking painting the whole car sounds better. Thanks for the explanations, I'm a fool when it comes to paint.. Kinda embarassing actually.
