how remove water streaks on hood?
I drove my original paint red '84 Z28 in the rain one time. I now have streaks from the rain/water which come up on the hood from the nose of the car. I have washed the car several times but the water streaks remain. How do I get them out? If I rub a small part of one of the streaks real hard with my finger it appears that it goes away. However, I have scrubbed and scrubbed when washing the car and they are still there. Do I need to buff them out with a power buffer? As you may be able to tell, I don't know a whole lot about this subject - and I really don't want to hurt my paint job. You can really only see the streaks if you are looking for them and catch them in the right light. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

"how remove water steaks on hood?"
Simple, don't cook your steaks on your hood. Sorry, I had to do it. Honestly though, you should be able to get them out with a simple spray on wax (like Mothers or Meguires...something like that) or you can do what I do and use a clay bar. Either way should get them out.

I guess I deserved that one. Thanks - I will give that a shot. I have not waxed it since the streaks appeared.

you may have to use polishing compound ... google vinegar/water mix for streaks... not sure on that one, but a few people have said that...

I am going to try the clay bar - which I have never done before. I have to admit, the thought of rubbing a clay bar on the hood of my car makes me a little uneasy. I have watched a tutorial online about how to do it and the guys at the auto parts store say it works wonders. Any tricks or things not to do? Thanks.

I use this method for my windows after washing my car and I can say it definitely works. I also use newspaper as well while getting the spotting and such out.

Make sure the car is SUPER clean when you start. Wash it with dish soap to help strip the paint of waxes and such. Do it in the shade. It will remove your wax so you will have to reapply after.
Don't try to use the whole bar. Use part of it. Kneed it soft before you start. Keep it lubricated to not scratch.
The trick to claybaring is to keep kneeding the clay often and spraying the car really well with quick detail or the like.
kneeding the clay moves the contaminates you pull off the paint off the surface of the clay, so you are not rubbing the paint with it. you spray liberally... rub a small area... kneed and repeat. Use a microfiber to towel away the area after you clay bar. Wipe as you go. Don't let it dry. You will use a few microfiber. Feel the paint as you go. it will feel roughish and not slick when you start. When you r done it will feel like a clean mirror. If the clay starts hardening up and won't kneed soft, feeling gritty, or getting really dirty looking... throw it out and break off a new piece. better to throw it out then ruin the car. Keep the new and used in separate baggies when you are done.
this is a time consuming process, but WELL worth it. You will be sore and tired after. If not you did not do it well enough. U will use alot of Quick detail, but this is ok. Better to waste a bit then to hurt the paint. I have pulled out alot of overspray w/o damaging the vehicle finish.
If you drop the clay... throw it out.

Hey man I use Ice Liquid polish and it works amazing. Just spray it on and wipe it down with a lint free cloth.
It's easy and works great.
