here in the next couple of months im gonna get my windows tinted, i cant choose between 15% or 20% so give me some ideas, id love them to be on red cars like mine but any kind of car will do!!

The difference between 15% and 20% is basically nothing.

IMO, anything darker than 35% starts to look ghetto. 35% is kind of borderline for getting pulled over, if you live in a state that only allows as dark as 50%. Anything darker than 35% would definitely get you pulled over somewhere like MN.

I seen some 2.5% at my local wally world. That would be very dark. My windows aren't tinted but I'd like to.

I can tell you this. I have 15% on all doors and back glass on my marked patrol car, and I work night shift. It is really dark and it can be a PITA to see at night with 15%. If you wont be doing a lot of night driving, it would look sharp on your car.

 

I have 35% all the way around, and at nights its very dark. Im happy with my choice to say the least.

 

yeah i've heard that before, a friend of mine with an escape thats tinted out has to roll down the windows at night (more often than not)

My windows are 5% back, sides, and front strip. I put solid black vinyl on the t-top glass to keep the sun off my head. If i want sun shine I roll down the windows and take the tops out.

I had 5% on the side and rear when I bought my car. It felt like I was wearing blinders at night. I've removed the tint from the side windows but left it on the rear because half the drivers around here use high beams all the time. I've been thinking about getting the sides done in 35% which I think is perfect for day or night.

A 35% shade from one company can be either lighter/darker compared to another. All films are different.

 

Mine are 35% in the front and 15% in the rear. I would have gotten darker, but state law prohibits. 35% is too light in my oponion. I like 20%.

 

state laws here are 35% too but a cop does the tinting here and he said 15% would look sick on my car, but i jsut want 20%, every tint shop i called said they could go as low as 15% so idk if the law changed or not

 

Here is mine. 5% rear and 20% sides. The black interior helps as well

5% all around is too dark for night driving.

 

Wow the law in Ohio is 50% (like nothing) so anything darker than stock is clearly noticeable.

 

on the sides? if so then you're luckier than us in jersey lol, nothing on the driver/passenger windows

 

I'ld like to see some pics of 35%sides and either 5%rear or 2.5%. Im gettin my windows tinted next week and Im keepin it legal with 35%sides, the darker the back the darker the sides look.

I went with limo on the hatch and illegal on fronts. I live in Az and have a AC!
I love the dark tint.

 

my old 91 Z had tints... even the windshield was tinted with a piece cut out for the inspection sticker lol

 

i got 5% on the back window and windsheild and 35% on the sides...legal limit for cali is 70% so go figure...

gonna re-do the side windows with 5% as well

just as a reference, 5% is considered limo tint.

%5 looks the best, just sexy. changes the look of the vehicle, but also @ 5% you can't see shat at night, especially backing up... and i got a bunch of window tent tickets... so its bare now but im going for the legal 35%(in MO)

 

I don't know about anywhere else, but I check the tint laws here in NY regularly... Well, at least once a year or so. And every time I look, the damn law changes . My windows on the Bird were tinted when I bought it, but half of the tint was torn and it was all faded purple (DON'T use an ammonia-based cleaner on tint! Use highly diluted Simple Green or 409 Glass cleaner if you can find it), so I tore it off. My 93 Grand Prix had tint on the rear... Think it was 10-15% or so as I didn't need to use the "night" setting on the rearview mirror when getting out of work at 10 at night. I'm planning on 20% on the sides, 10% on the rear, and 5% on the t-tops, if I don't make cloth-covered inserts for the tops.

What I'm saying is to check your local laws before you do anything... There are an awful lot of ***** cops out there that will ticket for just about anything (and be especially careful of the end of the month... that's quota time!).

Go to your motor vehicles website... Google it if you have to. You may have to enter "tint laws" in a search box on the site. Or, as I recall, there is a site out there somewhere that, at least, tried to, keep tabs on the tint laws in every state. I may have it bookmarked and I may not, I'll have to look.

:edit: Indiana law is 30% all the way around... As here: http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html But double check as the site may not be accurate.
