Paint Job Question
Paint Job Question
I'm looking to get a paint job, hoping it survives a Winterpeg winter, anyways - I was wondering should I ask for anything extra to be done to my car paint wise... I've heard that for older cars (I have an '84, not exactly old... but hopefully you know what I mean) there should be a special kind of paint or some kind of protectant that should go over the paint (not the clear coat). Anyone know what this is or how much it would cost? I'm completely dumb when it comes to something, especially paint.
Any idea what a really good paint job would cost on a '84 Firebird in Cdn?
Thanks for all your help guys!

If you are painting the car a metallic color you just need a Clear coat to protect the metallic base coat from fading. If you paint the car with a Solid color such as Black, White, Red, Blue etc... then you don't need Clear or anything else sprayed over it. Don't let anybody else tell you different, there are a lot of Bad paint shops that'll tell you anything just to waste your money. A decent paint job should cost about $5000.00 and up depending on the amount of body work etc... You could get away with paying under $2000.00 but, prep work could be questionable. You get what you pay for especially in autobody. Get References, if you get a cheap quote chances are they're going to cut back on something.
