Re: need info on painting

You can forget about matching 22 year old paint. Better off sanding the whole thing down and painting it.

Re: need info on painting

if youve never painted before youll want to get a gun and some cheap paint and practice on what ever you can first. theres virtually no chance of you picking up a spray gun the first time and painting youre hood black with good results. it takes a while to get good at spraying. you can always take some classes or something or go to local paint shops for tips and advise. as for what brand of paint, thats usually a personal choice. as long as you dont get bargin basement paint you should be fine. as far as matching the rest of the car, you can get the color code of the paint "if stock" and have a paint shop match up an exact match. if its not stock paint then youre only bet is to get a paint supply place to color match it for you. they use a special camera to take a "picture" of your paint, put it through a special computer program, and can either get you a mix sheet or a can of the color ready to go.
