Questions of Resurfacing old Iroc Rims
What is the best grit sandpaper to use to get the best results on the rims?

im buying some pretty rough 87 iroc rims and was wondering what i should do to make them look nice. Im lookin to get them showroom quality.

hate to sounds this way, but it depends on how rough. If you are looking at road rash, scarring and gouges, that's pretty difficult to do, leave it to the professionals ,and BTW, it's expensive
if you want to make what you have just look nice.. pretty easy.
start with 200 grit sandpaper... and preferable a sanding block. sand all the flat parts until the aluminum is very smooth and clean, with an even haze, no clear coat al all left
then move to 400.. repeat
then 800 (stop here if you like the way it looks)
then 1200 if you are aiming for mirror finish (which is not factory, but very nice looking)
then 2000
then buff on a polishing wheel with white rouge
