Factory paint question

I have an 83 Sports coupe and am wondering what the factory colors were on this type of car. I've seen a post a while back saying that they had a Maui Blue paint color. I'm almost positive this is my color but i wanted to be sure about it. Thank you for any input. For some reason i cannot upload my picture of my car. So any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have a spray paint can for touch ups that was matched at the time (1996) that reads Lt. Royal blue met. L2WA8238 GM. for now i would like to get 1 or 2 more spray cans of these but have no idea where to find this type of paint. Can anyone link me to a site that sells custom matched spray paint?
I found the old post and noticed that the paint of the Maui blue was on a 1990 so that's out of the question.

Re: Factory paint question

Maui Blue didn't start until 1988 IIRC.

WA8238 would be the paint code for the paint in that can you have. If you want to find the original paint code, you need to look at the RPO tag in the center console. At the bottom you'll find the codes.

Re: Factory paint question

I can't see why they couldn't, all of the paints for our cars are readily available.

Re: Factory paint question

maybe i am looking in all the wrong places haha. I think your car was the car that i was initially talking about. It is beautiful. The Maui color looks a little more blue than the color i have. that is in certain lighting angles. Anyways, thanks for the quick replies. Helped out quite a bit.

Re: Factory paint question

Most GM cars of that era had two codes, a "WA" number, then usually a two digit number followed by a "u" and another two digit number followed by an "L". Means "upper" and "lower" for two-toned cars. Numbers should be the same if it's a single color car. Chances are WA8238 is the number you'll find in the car if the color matches. Don't get hung up on names of paint, each paint manufacturer will call that color something else. For example: DuPont may have been supplying the paint to the OEM at the time and that's why it's called Maui Blue.(apart from possible help from GM for marketing purposes) Sherwin Williams and BASF will call the same color something else.

RPO codes didn't start until 1984.

The best place to look would be the cowl tag, that has the 2 digit color code on it I believe.
