opions
I was curious o what i should do with my car. I will start off my saying that i am currently a college student without a lot of free time and extra money. Second I currently have an 86 sc that is in need of a paint job. Clearcoat is beginning to fake, in a few areas and there are a few scratches and dents. My problem is weither i should paint the car or not. My dad says i should jus keep my car running as i have been doing and not worry about the rest. I was talking with my uncle who runs a body shop and told me i we could paint my car plus the minor body work for like 1500-2000 which is a good deal. He also told em that since my car sits in the parking lot here most of the time and people have been known hit it and scratch it here, he suggested either just letting it go or get a maco job for like 600 or so. One reason i am thinking about not paiting it is because my brother had a really nice 79 camaro that he had fixed up and painted and when he took it to school it got keyed egged and someone tried to drill the passenger lock. Anyways sorry to ramble on about this i was just wanted to get a few opions. Thanks Alot.

It sounds kinda gay...but I'd rather all show and no go. My car kinda covers show and some go...but if you dont look good, people dont notice yur car. Sure you may sound good but unless your got over 300-400 horse people will just look at you and think its a P.O.S if you dont get it painted.
Goin down the highway no one will notice a maaco job versus a $1,000 job. Go prep your car and take it to maaco to spray and you might possibly get a good final product.
I say Maaco then a cat-back

first off i agree with you about looking good, but the biggest reason i am thinking about not painting the car is because i have already been hit once the semester 18" along drivers door in the school parking lot, but i am still really considering painting this summer. Thanks again for the response and i would like to go on beating the dead horse by saying you have a very nice paint job, and i love the wheels.

My opinion has always been that you can't live in fear of what someone's gonna do to your car after its painted. Sure there's some steps you could take to avoid some damage though. I like the look of our cars w/o the doorstrip bumpers on them, but put them BACK on my '86 right after it got painted, so no one in a parking lot accidentally gives my doors a makeover. Its a consession (spelling) I made to give me a lil' peace of mind.
I could ramble some more, but I'll just sum it up for my OPINION
If you're gonna enjoy the new paintjob and you have the $, get it, and don't live in fear of getting hit.
