paint ?s

me and my dad both have been wanting to paint our cars for a while now. and since we finally have everything we need to paint our cars we are wondering how much will we need. i own an 88 formula and he owns a 94 firebird. his car is already a gloss black it isnt too bad looking but since gm used cheap paint his roof looks awful and theres some other places that are a little cracking. i on the other hand have a primer black car. im gonna be removing the fenders hood hatch spoiler and doors and sanding it all down and removing all my old decals and bondoing all dents and holes.

so im wondering about how much paint i will need in order to paint my car and my dads car? i will post pics of the progress

1 gal each of primer, base, clear. You might have a little left over not much tho, you have it for touch up spots later. Anyway its cheaper to buy gal than 3 or 4 qts.

Re: paint ?s

For my two garage paint jobs this is what I used.

89 Formula Med Maui Blue Metallic Napa OMNI line base/clear 1.5 gal primer, 1.5 gallon base, 2 gallon clear
85 Trans Am High Pearl Maroon PPG Entry Level base/clear 1.5 gal primer, 1.25 gallon base, 2 gallon clear

I could have gotten away with one gallon of clear if you are on a strict budget. A solid color instead of a pearl/metallic might not use quite as much paint also.
