Polish Plenum to Match Supercharger? Or Leave Original?

I would like to hear your opinions.

Some of you know my son and I are cleaning up/lightly restoring this '89 VHO.

Originally, the entire supercharger assy, brackets, and piping were polished aluminum AND the factory plenum and runners were left stock-looking.

Right now, the plenum, runners, and TB show signs of oxidation and some small stains where one of the runner gaskets must have leaked. They need to be cleaned up real good.

The aluminum supercharger stuff is coming off so I can polish it back up.

Question 1: Should I polish the plenum, runners, and TB to match or leave it original? My gut says leave it original.

Question 2: If I leave it original-looking, what's the best way to clean the plenum, runners, and TB to make it "new-looking" without making it look polished?

1. If your gut says original, keep it original. Either way can look great.

2. Cleaning cast aluminum is really hard. I think your best bet would be either a chemical bath or an abrasive spray like sandblasting. Sand may be a bit to abrasive for aluminum, choose the medium wisely.
