The 4th gen interior, just like the 4th gen exterior, was a culmination of the rounded, "aerodynamic", curved, swooping lines of the 90's. With the turn of the new millennium, car designers went back to the angles and sharp lines that we see today. The 4th Gen design is a relic of a time when Lincoln Town Cars, Chevrolet Caprices, and Mini Vans were "modern". That's not the case anymore.

I can see swapping to 4th gen seats, because they are so much lighter and more comfortable. But why get rid of the 3rd gen interior? I realize that different people have different tastes, but is it really "modernizing" a car to do that, when "modern" cars don't even look like that anymore? If anything, swap to an '85-92 Firebird Interior. It's one of the best looking and best laid out interiors of the era. Why mess up something that's already great with what's likely to turn into a hack job?

For me the reason I did was if you look through the thread in my sig you will see that I stared with really nothing, dash was cracked dash pad was ruined console was hacked together. A 4th gen interior was something different from the last 86 iroc I had I have nothing againt the 3rd gen interior as for a firebird interior it doesn't do it for me and seeing as how there's not really any thirdgens around where I live its something completely different to see also I have no ac heat the 4th gen dash/center is lighter than the 3rd gen for me and this particular car this is how it is. Not saying its completely modern but more so than the 3rd gen
