Floor pan layout different in 90-92 Firebirds? Want to swap stock carpets.
Floor pan layout different in 90-92 Firebirds? Want to swap stock carpets.
So I want to take my 91 firebirds' black interior & put it in my 89 TA, in place of stock grey int. Biggest issue for me is that I don't know if the floor pans are configured the same. (4 carpet swap) I searched awhile ago and thought I heard that the 90-92 floor pans were different than the previous model years. Any truth to that? Enough difference to make this swap undesirable? (wouldnt think so but don't wanna get in over my head, not as handy/knowledgeable as yous guys
)
I know aftermarket carpets fit wide ranges of fbodies. They're made to! I need to know if the stock carpets will match up. I have no interest in spending $160+ for aftermarket when I have a good cond. stock carpet thats already cut and formed!
Trying to gather info for my weekend project, thanks!

I'm shopping for new carpet myself.
From what I've seen, all third generation Camaros and Firebirds have the same floor plan and carpet.
I also suspect that second gen carpet would fit in a third gen car.

Cool, I'm prob. making a mountain out of a mole hill, but this is a BIG project for me. Swapping two interiors!
Dout it'll be my 'biggest issue' for long..
What are you going with for under the carpet? Insulation/sound dampener wise, not sure myself.

i think 4th gen carpets fit nice since they are too wide to begin with, it allows you to trim it to fit on the sides and make it tight, one downfall are the front belt holes, they are farther back but usually can be covered by a floor mat. i used a 4th gen carpet in my 88, worked nicely.
