I think a bra is the ugliest thing you can do to ANY car. Do it right and repaint. Just my opinion.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
The bra is counter productive to protecting paint. I have proof!!!
The 92 I bought yesterday, and the hood end bra I removed today...

Must have had a chip, and the bra held the moisture against the paint...

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
Looks like the PO was using "the bra" for the same reason I use it for??? I.....for the record....would never use one on a perfectly good front end of anything. Someday I will "do it right" and repaint the whole car and will get rid of that 80's bra...lol. Ummmmmm.............Oh, I forgot....it is an 80's vehicle!!!

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I would get a couple of rattle cans of chevy "universal black" paint and do a base coat/clear coat job. If done right it would look good.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I only like body color bras.

I will say one thing about them. And that's that they do protect you on road trips. When I drove across the country (Vancouver BC - Houston TX), I stopped for gas 11 times. I used the wand to wash the dead bugs off the windshield at each stop.
The front bra was FILTHY with bug splats upon getting to Houston.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
That bra has been on the car since 1990. I'm actually kind of curious to see what's underneath it. Although at this point in time, it's been on so long, that the car would seem like it's missing something to me if I took it off.
In today's world, if I wanted to protect the front end, I would do the invisible clear shield that tint shops offer.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
He thinks that bras look good when they match color with the car... meaning that they look good on black cars... i dont think there are red bras

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
These cars have nice front ends, its a shame to cover them up with bras. Thirdgens dont have *****, so they dont need bras.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
Do yourself, and the rest of the world a favor DO NOT BRA YOUR CAR!!!!!!!
IMO they are really really hideous and make your car look really cheap.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
One thing to consider with Bra's. I had a friend who used them on his probe and he had it on for about two years. He decided to take it off and clean under it one day and realized that small rocks/pebbles got trapped inside it and from the wind etc.. they had started to scratch the paint. So if you are going to disgrace your car with a bra (my opinion) then at least take it off once a month or so and clean under it.
Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I've got two bras for an 85-90 style trans am bumper. If anyone wants one of them, they are yours for free...just pay shipping. Both in good condition, slightly different styles. PM me!
Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I only put a bra on if I get on the interstate. Keeps the nose from getting sand blasted. It gets removed when I'm back in the garage. That's why the beaks are in near pristine condition.

Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I am a huge of putting a clear wrap on the front of the car, not the whole car. After mine gets a repaint in a few months I will have the car wrapped with a clear protective film. Its a few grand to have it done, but it completely saves the paint from everything. And with just a good wash, its shiny and new. No waxing!
Re: To Bra or Not to Bra
I'm in the process of buying an '89 Iroc. It's black with the black & blue body stripes. The nose is pristine so I am buying a bra, & mirror bras for that matter, to preserve the leading edges. They will not stay on the car, only for the interstate.
