New to the board, want to get opinions on my Camaro
Hey guys, I'm new to the board here, I figured I'd start off by posting some pics and getting your guys opinions on my car. It's a 1988 Camaro, with a rebuilt 305 HO (the Q-Jet version)out of an 86 Iroc, 700R-4 tranny, Ram Air II hood, limo tinted windows, Trenz Billet Grill, 3in flowmaster exhaust w/ no cat, Billet Front Emblem with flames, custom stereo install (JVC Digifine 2.1 head unit, MA Audio platinum series 4x6's and 6x9's, Kicker IX405D amp, and 2 JL Audio W0 12's in a custom box in my hatch), 16in Iroc Rims, Custom Silver gauges, silver interior pieces, B&M Megashifter, Ram Air Intake with K&N air cleaner, Accel Superstock Wires, Bosch Platinum +4 plugs, ADS Superchip, T-Tops, and a 3.23 disc rearend. I'm getting it repainted black with blue ghost flames, I have some of the crate engine chrome valve covers for it, and getting rid of everything underneath hood that I don't need and chroming everything else, hooker headers, interior is going to be Corbeau Carrera Racing seats up front in black and silver, 4th gen rear seats in black and silver, and gray tweed door panels with black flames, Rims will be Torque Thrust II's 17x11 rear and 17x8 front, Air Ride Technologies is going to make me a custom airbag suspension, 1992 Z28 wing, complete mobile video with DVD, and a ZZ4 crate motor. I've had the car for 4 months, bought it as a lost cause (interior all beat up, outside as well), and trying to turn into a real show winner. Thanks guys.

Hey, I like the plenum, it looks sweet. I saw a plenum in the junkyard by my house that someone had polished, didn't go into as much work as you did though. I like it, good way to dress it up. To answer the T-Top question, I just put them in my storage bag,, fold down the rear seat, and lay them there. My stereo is secured to the car, so don't have to worry about it moving.

Looks clean but I don't care for: hood, pedals, rear wing(get a '91Z one), cheap steering wheel, T handle shifter, under engineered Ram air box. Make a real box not a big wedge. Everything else is great. Looks show quality.

Hey, I don't like the wing either, that was my next addition was the 91 Z one. The box is made out of stainless steel, and is polished up (can't tell in pic. I couldn't make a box that would work as effective, without a bunch of tubes, etc. That's the best idea I could come up with (plus it works, lol). The shifter is a B&M megashifter, which I think fits nicely in the console. Some people like the hood, some don't. I like it cuz it's different, not many people have it, and it gives it a nice look on the road. The steering wheel will be gone when doing interior. I'm going to get a Billet Specialties Terminator steeing wheel (250 bucks, lol). Pedals I got because my stock ones were ugly, and can't do anything else to them. Thanks alot for the comments guys. It's still in the works.

Yeah, Momo's are nice. I'm just not into that style. Is a nice wheel though. I liked the Challenger series for now because it goes with the color scheme, and I think it looks fairly nice, alot better than stock. The Billet one is the Half-Wrap steering wheel with the billet center section.

I don't think it's a pain at all, but I usually drive with the windows down. Never had a cop hassle me yet, and it keeps the car shaded. Only prob is at night, if you have windows up, and your not in a well lit area, it's hard to see. But my windows are usually down unless it's raining.

I like the limo tint since you can't see in on what I have. You shouldn't have a prob with it.

yea, I have a punch 1000.1, and 400.4, with 2 10" he2's, dont want anyone seeing that.
By the way, i like that custom install, did you do it? That fit you have in the hatch is what Im going for.. Currently I have a box that points the subs likes yours. But the amps are just sitting atop the gas tank, nothing really special about that.

Yeah, my kicker 5 channel amp is hidden under the amp rack anyways. But the tint helps from seeing anything else. I designed the box, made the ;ayouts, but I had a Audio shop in town called perfprmance audio do the work. The amp rack and box are made into each other. The sub part of it is all fiberglassed in for a leak free seal. I had them make a cutout over y glove box in the back so I can remove the carpeted piece when I need to get to it. It took 2 1/2 days to build. 11 in the morning, to 11 at night. Oh, thanks for the compliments.

Thanks. I was going to try and do it myself, lol. Until I realized how much of a bitch it would be to have all the curves and stuff for my hatch, lol. It was well worth the wait, WAY better than anything I could have ever done.

Yes I did. When I got the car, it was pretty much nothing. I had the tint done for 116 with a lifetime warranty. Don't know what the places around you will charge, but should be around there.

Probably because it is illegal, but I had this little place in the flea market do it, very nice job. They make tons of money doing that stuff, lol. He gave me the receipt and a warranty, but all the other places I atlked to were like that. No warranty or receipt. So they couldn't get in trouble.

LOL, 17 tickets!!!!!!!!! Man, I've never got hassled once (prob cuz windows always down), but I thought about the do it yourself approach, but figured instead of doing trial and error until I get it right, I'd let someone else do it. I got lucky on the lifetime warranty though.

True, but technically it's not a SC anymore. It has an Iroc engine in it, and I want to get the 1992 Z28 spoiler cuz my hood looks higher than the rearend does. With the performance mods done right now, it'll stay with my friends 94 Z with a 6-spd. Only for a little, he inches away from me. I've been upgrading alot of the parts to the Z parts so I can REALLY make it a Z28

Oh, the other Z parts I have is the rearend from a 92 Z, sway bar from an 89 iroc with the wonder bar, swapped gauges with the 86 iroc (145 MPH Speedo), and the correct badging. Only things left that could be considered from the SC are my springs (which will be replaced with airbags, hehe), and my spoiler, which is getting replaced with the 92 High rise one. I got a good deal on it, and the car itself had low mileage, so I have been turning it into a Z28.

Want my opinion, YOU SUCK, AND I HATE YOU!! I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU. I AM CRYING IN TEARS, I WANT MY CAR TO BE EVERYTHIGN YOURS IS.
I'm such a loser....... LOL.
Ok but really awesome ride bro. I love your car, everything but the grill and hood. But that is one sweet ride. I'd like to see some closer shots of your interior trim, is it painted or is that real billet? I've only begain working on my engine mods, but don't get these guys started. No matter what you do it'd still be a super coupe to them.
I asked once if I could call my car an IROC cuase the iroc got totalled and I had a RS shell and they are all telling me I'd be a poser just for movign everythign outta the IROC to the RS. BLA BLA.
What does the car run man?
You're gonna take me for a ride right?
And welcome aboard bro.

Thanks un4givin. Yes, it is a real billet grill, but it was shady in the pic, and it doesn't do it justice. It's made by Trenz. I know the whole thing about "no matter what's in it, it's still an SC". But you know what's good about that, when you blow someone away, you can say I beat you with a SC, lol. Oh, I ran it once down here, and got a 14.86 @ 96.3. It was a fairly good run for me, but I don't race my car much at all. I'm more into the show schene now, with go to back it up. I was in a really bad car accident a year ago, lucky to be here they said. So I'm kinda weary when it comes to racing, etc. Plus, girls can't see ya when you go fast

Hey cowboys1, I had it custom made by an audio shop here in town. So you'd probably have to go to some place like that around you to get it done. Oh, un4givin, if ya lived down here, I'd say sure about the ride part, a bunch of us F-Body's go cruisin on the weekends sometimes. But your kinda far away from Florida, lol.

Here is the email address for the billet emblem BIGKODZ1@cs.com, his name is Merle Brooks. Thanks again all you guys. I had planned on getting those kickpanels when I saw them on the board yesterday. I like em, and I'm sure they do sound good. I'll try to get the specs on my box, but I didn't really do any of the work, I helped cut, and some measuring, but I let them do most of it. If I can't get all the info you need, I'll contact the guy who built it, and get it from him.

Oh, CD Maroman91, check out the wings west wrap around spoiler, it is like mine, but covers more of the side of the hatch. The sides go all the way to the glass, but the design is otherwise the same. Go to www.groundeffects.com for a good look at it. Oh, knightrider, thanks. I have been working my *** off, lol. It got to where I'd walk into work and the first thing someone would say is "what did ya get this week", lol. I've been working alot to get the money to turn this thing into a real mean street machine,

I like your ride, but if you insist on running the ram TA hood, you gotta run light covers too... it makes it look way better. The only problem is I've yet to find a set that stay on at over 180 kms/hr.
I'd tell you i don't like it because of your painted interior and your trans am style hood, but that's what makes it different and it's nice to see someone try things that are against the norm so i guess in that aspect it's nice.
i like most of your ideas for upgrades except the air-ride stuff, but if your going to trailer the car it'll be ok.
you must have come across alot of money to go with the upgrades your looking at, should be nice if you go through with it.
look forward to seeing it.

I love that car alot its real sharp, alot more sharp that an 88 coupe looks stock. I like the ss style hood more, but that still look sweet, that billet grill sets off the car nice. I agree though since you got a high hood youd be better off geting a z28 wing instead of the stock one thats on there now. Keep up the good work

Hey Kandied91Z, thanks for realizing some of what I wanted to do. I wanted something different, something you wouldn't see normally on a Third Gen, but still look decent. The hood and interior is like everything else. Some people like it, some people don't. I'm glad that you don't like it (sounds funny, but you'll see why), but still realize what I am striving for. I appreciate that. As far as the bags go. Your right about the trailer deal. It's a daily driver right now, but next year, when I start going to UCF, I'm going to get a new car to drive daily, and just put all my money into the camaro to hook it up more. I haven't done alot of things to it yet that I would like to, because it wouldn't be practical for what I use my car for right now. Once it gets stored away for shows and the weekend, it will get some more extensive treatment. Thanks again you guys. Oh, I didn't really come into alot of money, just I had been saving for awhile since my last car (99 Z24 that I was in an unfortunate hit and run), and been working alot to hook it up. Thanks again.
