Re: Post your "All Original" Thirdgen Pictures
This is the best picture I currently have. I'll get some good ones after I get my car back from the paint shop. It'll still look factory when I get it back except it will be lowered about 2 inches.

This is mine as of about 2yrs.ago,before I started the interior and exterior restoration with after market products.Still 99.5% stock.
Re: Post your "All Original" Thirdgen Pictures
You want original-this one is pretty close. A true survivor car. 1982 base firebird-23k-original paint/interior/engine. The only things new are tires, fluids and a few hoses, other than that-this is the way she left the dealership.

Thanks guys for the compliments on the "base" firebird. I take a lot of heat from the local crowd because its a v-6. I take it with a grain of salt because if I dropped a v-8 in it, it would no longer be orig and a survivor. The wheel covers are RPO PE3-rally v wheels.

I had a "base" "Bird back in the day - a 1983 with 2.8L V-6 and a 5-speed. Mine was red with charcoal interior. I had Ralley wheels. Looks like you got the full gauge package - I only had a speedo and gas gauge.
I agree, keep it stock. I doubt there are many of them left.

Appearance and drive train wise everything but the louvers is stock. The underside is a different story but it's nothing radical, just the average thirdgen stuff; SFCs, Konis, etc. Pics were from about 2 years and 20k ago, at about 72k so it was pretty close to 100% factory then.

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
Here's a few of my past cars that were all original / stock. The rest of my cars have all been modified.
1990 IROC-Z G92 optioned 305TPI/5spd, all power options, rear disc brakes, etc.

1989 IROC-Z 305TPI/auto, no power options, "base" model TPI IROC-Z, 15" IROC wheels, etc.

1992 Z03 Z28 Heritage Edition convertible, 305TPI/auto, all power options

My sister had this one as her first car, '91 Formula WS6, 305TPI/auto, all power options, factory CD player, still had the original casette owners information and dealer brochures.

This one looks very original - love the date stamp on the rad hose. A new RC27 rad cap, non-ribbed belts and a black battery would make it look even better. It's also nice enough to deserve the time it would take to give it a really good cleaning, even the inside of the coolant tank. TPI engines always look fantastic, especially in a well detailed engine compartment.

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures

It's going to be interesting to see how numbers of stock, original unrestored low mileage thirdgens hold up with time. There were more Camaros made but I have seen a lot of them swapped, frankencar'd, modded or daily driven without being kept up properly... maybe the Firebird/Camaro ratio will equal out as time goes on? One thing's for sure though, there arent a lot of base models, s/e's and berlinettas being saved like the one above. Idk if theyll ever be worth anything but there is a huge cool factor to the cars with the rare hubcaps and accessories and factory correct iron dukes and v6s.

I keep everything that comes off the car. (including the plastic TPI distributor cover, the one on there is aluminum)I haven't really done a full detail in the engine bay yet for fear of damaging something.
I'll look into a black battery and different belts. The battery is on it's way out anyway.

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
Not to go way off topic but I noticed that in the two pictures blue zee posted of the 90 iroc and 89 iroc the iroc decals were both towards the back of the door.
and on both the 86's they were toward the front.
Anyone know when they made this transition?

Interesting... never noticed that! Looks like 1985-1987 were the ones where it was stuck at the front of the door and 1988-1990 it was stuck near the rear based on what came up on Google images for the different years.

Mine is also a 1982 Base V6 Bird, with 4600 original miles (3900 when I bought it)
Same deal, replaced the tires, a few hoses and belts, only I did my stereo as well, the stock speakers were rotted and fell apart the first time I turned on the radio
Still need to rebuild my carburetor though, it needs it bad.You gotta love the stock wire hubcaps... they even have lockers, and a special key to take them off... I want to replace them, but on the other hand, they are original :P

I'm only home 4 months out of the year (I'm a commercial sailor), I plan on using the car for my "daily driver"... but for me, that means about 2000 miles a year, at most.I baby my cars, and keep them spotless inside and out.
