GTA style spoiler on Z28?

What do you guys think about a GTA style wrap around spoiler on a 92 Z28? You stocker guys can keep your mouths shut. My 92 is dark teal metallic and aesthetically stock right now. I'm thinking a black GTA style spoiler, possibly black ground affects but not sure, and black hood blisters would look pretty darn sweet. Has anyone attached a GTA spoiler to any Camaro and if so could you post pics? Do you guys think that sounds cool? I think the GTA spoiler is a little more "tasteful" than the Camaro's stock one. Oh, and would the GTA spoiler bolt right on, line up with the bolt holes of the Camaro's hatch? Thanks a million in advance guys.

I have done it, I know it won't attach to stock holes and side holes must be filled. I did mine on a spoilerless 84 camaro, looked pretty nice. You will also need the metal trim around the back glass to secure the spoiler, you are better off buy a hatch with it and then fill the side spoiler holes.

sorry no pics as I did this a long time ago.

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

I think it would look ok as long as you remove the Z28 spoiler first. I've seen it done when the person kept the original spoiler and it look cool from afar, but tacky up close.

EDIT: I was thinking you had an earlier Z28 with the duck tail type spoiler. my bad lol

People are free to do whatever they want with their cars, but I'll never understand why people like to cross breed the two F-twins. These cars already have an identity issue as it is. No offence to you Camaro guys, but nothing irritates me more than when someone calls my Trans Am GTA a Camaro.

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

I honestly thought about swapping hatches just to see what it looked like only because I have an extra hatch with one on it but I just don't have the time or the help to do it.

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

Yep I agree with Carlos.

I love the stock look of the 91-92 Z28's in fact it is my favorit and it sort of bothers me when i see someone taking of the Highrise spoiler and putting on the low spoiler, in this case its a bit different but kind of the same. IMO it is like taking away its identity.

They look like Rs's with Hood Blisters.

But to each is own

I honestly have to agree with the majority of the posters, however, I don't agree with their choice of words. It is your car and you can do with it what you please, but if the opinion of others bothers you then I wouldn't do it. You will most definitely receive more ridicule than praise.

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

I don't like the idea. Unmolested 91-92 Z28s are hard to find, and they look the best out of all the 3rd gens. You take away that high-rise wing, and you strip it of one of the few things that make that car unique.

Your car so do what you want, but I don't like the idea of the TA spoiler on the Z28.

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

i dont think it will look bad,,,but the high rise z28 wing is already (arguably) the best factory looking wing and is one key identity to the 2 years of z28s in 91-92. the high rise even looks killer on the birds (cross breeding in know). but the two toning of the paint IMO would look rediculous and *****. i use think that kind of stuff looked neat when i was 14 but cars look tacky as heck with differant colored body parts. same reason i prefer hard top over t-top because the hard top has paint on top.

I always hear how rare a stock 92 Z is and how awesome they are. So I'm going to leave her bone stock aesthetically

I would really recommend leaving her stock. They only made 5,197 Z28's in 1992. Makes me sad when I see college kids selling their's on craigslist because they turned the transmission into a slushbox or blew the engine. Sometimes both!

Re: GTA style spoiler on Z28?

My understanding of a "slush box" is any Automatic transmission. Has nothing to do with the state of that transmission.

That is exactly where I went after he asked that question, and I was mistaken, that is why I said I may be using the term incorrectly in my previous post. Sorry. :/

What I was trying to convey is that he tore up the transmission.
