Questions about adding TA ground effects to 90 formula

Some questions: One, what is this metal bar that has to be welded in? Where do I weld it, and why do I have to put it on? Two, how do I paint it? Gfx first, then put them on? The whole car will be getting a repaint next year. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

A formula is no longer a formula with GFX on it. 90 Formulas look sweet as hell without them. Just lower it a little and put the money into the motr. Go to my website,

http://arcticws6.homestead.com/index.html

Look at my friends black 90 formula. Kickass car, and it hauls *** . (13.8, only a few mods)

keep the GFX for the TA and GTA boys. Of course that is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

As far as I know, the GFX have to be painted OFF the car, as they aren't metal, and put back onto the car after the car is painted. When the body shop fixed my door, they removed the gfx and I saw this bar, but never got close enough to say if it was welded or bolted. The door portion of the gfx would determine where you would place this bar, as it (the door portion of the gfx)hangs off it to come flush with the bottom of the door. This is the only way the top of the gfx will attach to the door, and then the bottom is bolted into 2-3 places (maybe more). There will actually be a very small, edge of the washrag string catching, gap between the door and the gfx.

I agree with Adam that the Formula's with no gfx have a very clean look and are awesome, and yet I love the way my T/A looks as well. Having had both I understand wanting the gfx, but I wouldn't have added them to my 89 Formula for anything.

Short of removing the gfx I can take any pictures of mine that you would like, email me!

Hmmm, interesting. Thanks for the replys, it's probably something for a far off project. Right now the car is getting some maintenance, then the suspension is getting rebuilt. Come next summer, the car will be repainted. Besides, I'd never call it something it's not. It's a Formula no matter what I do to it. It's not a TA when I add gfx, it's not a Formula 350 when I replace the engine, it's not a GTA when I redo the interior and sum up the other mods. It's a Formula till it goes to that junkyard in the sky. Anyone have any pics of a ram air II hood on a Formula(seriously)? Maybe I'll go for that "fourth gen" look? Look, I'm not trying to be rude and make enemies, I'm stating my opinion, that's all. I appreciate the help.

I have seen the ram air II hood on the TA's of that body style and it looks pretty cool, as with the ASCD. I have seen the RAII hood on the 91-92 body like mine and I didnt like it so I went with the ASCD hood. Take a look at 86firebirds car, he has the ground effects as well though.
