Thanks, I did not do the door jambs since that's a little more involved.

Re: To wrap or not to wrap

Is there a seam on the top of your car, in front of the rear hatch?
Just trying to figure out how you might have done it haha.
Awesome car by the way.

While I prefer paint, the wrap does look good. How's it holding up so far?

I did the rear body portion in 3 sections. The seams are right behind the outside portion of the t-tops right when the body curves downward. I could've gone a couple of other ways with that but decided to do it that way. I used 3m satin black vinyl and 3m carbon fiber vinyl for the hood, solarwing and top portion of the rear wing. I just did the wing over the weekend. Everything is holding up just fine. This stuff lasts for years just like a regular paint job.

Hey, my first post on this forum goes to you man. Great job on the vinyl wrap. I started a youtube series on my third gen project and I'm going to film myself wrapping it at one point. My question is how did you manage to wrap the air inlets on the ground effects? I'm trying to wrap my mind around it, have not found one single youtube video about it, but you look like you did an amazing job on it

Re: To wrap or not to wrap

I just laid the vinyl over it and cut right at the upper portion of the opening and followed it around the contour. I sprayed the inside of the opening flat black before I wrapped it.

I think the best bet for that headlight inlet is using knifeless tape on the edge of it. There will be a seam, but that's probably the most ideal way to do it

Re: To wrap or not to wrap

Why not actually PAINT the pocket? Or plasti-dip? Lord knows I despise plastidip, but in this case... ...I think the main body needs a little different finish than the headlight pocket anyway.

Re: To wrap or not to wrap

i wasn't thinking about the knifeless tape for the headlight pocket and i think that will do the trick. i plan on doing metallic silver, black headlight pockets, and i have a set of red 91/92 z28 stripes.

Yea knifeless tape can do wonders for a few certain things. It would be perfect for the headlight pocket!
Here's the first episode for my third gen series on youtube. Stay tuned. I'm about 8 episodes in and here in a few episodes I should be starting to do the vinyl
