AKA the 88-90s OWN! I love em.

85-87s rule too. Nothing better than a clean IROC wheel. Something about it.

The difference in style is the 85-87 has one "band" through each spoke. The 88-90s have two "bands"

Another difference is the 88-90 IROC wheels could be had in 15x7 and 16x8s. No, im not talking about 15x7 RS wheels. IROC wheels in 88-90 could be had in those two sizes, and the smaller versions are sometimes referred to as "mini-me".

Yes, well all know about the 15" IROC rim, but I seriously doubt anyone would recognize your self label of "mini-me" when asking for them at your local shop or swap meet.

Didn't even look at that, just picked to random ones from the reader rides.

Anyone see my sig pic? It loads for me sometimes and other times a red X. I can't find a good server to hold it.

a didn't realize the centers where different till a while ago. I think I'm just going to try to make my own centers.

I consider myself somewhat knowledgable about 3rdgen Camaros and what options were available and when, and I've never heard of a 15" IROC wheel. Are you sure about their existence?

Yes im sure they are in existence, because I am getting ready to buy some LOL. AAA Rims offers these wheels too. And here is an article from iroc.fbody.com:

" The exterior of the IROCs received a mild update for 88. The most noticable difference is that the wheels have been slightly changed. Instead of one line through the center of each spoke, there were now two lines, and the center area was a little different. Here's an interesting tidbit: for the first time, the 16" wheel was an option on the IROC. The car came standard with a 15" version. Along with that, the IROC-Z decal was a little smaller and moved to the rear of the door instead of the front. The stripe along the ground effects line now had the black line above the silver. The silver Z-28 badges on the exterior have been replaced with orange IROC-Z logos. "

Here are a pic of the 15 in. wheels:http://screamindeamin.cz28.com/images/newproject/wheels/

la la la la la la........

the 15" wheels that it's referring to are the 15" z/28 wheels. in '88 it had the 15" z/28 wheels for 15" on the IROC. I know, I have my showroom brochure from '88 right in front of me. but in '89, instead of the 15" z/28 wheels being the standard on the IROC, there was a version of the 16" iroc wheel, but in 15".

I'd love to get a set and put the 15" wheels in front, and the 16" wheels in back, just for fun.

about 2 years ago I parked my car in the college parking lot... i got out and saw a pretty nice iroc... i looked at the wheels and I could tell right away they were 15"s. They were the later style (not like mine on the 86). So i took a closer look and sure as heck, they were 15"s. 15"s on an IROC. WTF?

Yeah i was referring the 88-90s in a roundabout point of view. All the 88-90 IROC wheels look the same, but in 89-90, there was a 15in. version of the IROC wheel, not the Z28 wheel. Glad somebody could back me up. Im getting the 15in. IROC wheels soon for $150 for all four because I have a SC(87) which came standard with 15 in. wheels. Something to grab cheap right now because i hate the stock SC wheels in 87(poor ripoff of a Ralley).

Hey, I never said I was the 'final word on all things Camaro!' Just somewhat knowledgable! Glad to learn something I didn't know.

Now for the real question: Why would GM make a 15" IROC wheel when the IROC already came standard with 16" wheels?

Nope, never heard about it. Where's Reynolds at anyways? Close to Atlanta off of I75 isn't it? So what goes on up there? And oh yeah, since you're from GA, maybe you can tell me what the closest 1/4 mile is to me? These's an 1/8 mile strip about 2 miles from my house but I need to find a 1/4 mile strip. Do you know?

And Grace (CamaroChick), the 85-87 IROC wheels look way better than the later ones! HA!
Will you buy me some for Christmas?

well the z/28 had 15" wheels.
in '88 the z/28 was dropped, but just the name. the model line was simplified from 4 models to two. so the base iroc, was in essence a base z/28 but in iroc's clothing. it's a trick, less models, more options. the base price prolly dropped too. that's why the '88 sport coupe has ground effects. in the brochure it says something like it has the styling of z/28 but with model specific things like the regular hood and body color headlight buckets.
so the base wheels became the z/28 wheels on all models, with the iroc then having the option of 16" wheels. I wonder if the tires on the 15" wheels for the iroc were speed rated. according to my brochure, they weren't. how lame.

Black Widdow, tell me somewhat near where albany is?

Do you know where any of the following places is (doubting it)

Savanahan(sp?), Macon, Ft. Valley...

Reyonolds is right near Ft. Valley. Doubt you've ever heard of it, unless your just a big fan of buses (huge company blue bird there)

Macon, is above where I am, but decent sized town. Savannah, is furtherst away, but I think I might be able to give you directs from there.

CamaroChick, Nothing, just used polish this week, when I took those pictures there was no type of polish.

As far as reynolds goes, I believe that might be your nearest 1/4. They are actually a pretty good one as well. Not some run down place where anyone can do whatever. Camaro Sunday is where they hold the Georgia F-Body Gathering and everyone meets there. Last time we had about 110 I believe it was. Alot of people from www.sethirdgen.com game, one guy from chicago, one from wyoming, few from florida. And the rest from Ga. All and all lots of racing.

I've got a set of 88 15x7 Iroc wheels. I replaced them with the early style(better looking IMO) 16.8's and put the 15x7 Iroc wheels on my 2wd 91 S15 Jimmy. They look nice. But, to add to the 15 inch Iroc discussion, the 88 wheels are just a standard 15x7 5 spoke aluminum Z28 style wheel painted either all silver or all gold--no aluminum showing through. So basicly the Iroc 15x7's I have are the good old z28 wheels painted all silver with an Iroc center cap.

Thats what I thought. The 15" 'IROC' wheels were actually Z28 wheels, but became an option on the IROC.

But the 89 Iroc 15x7 wheels are a small version of the 16x8 Iroc wheels. If you want a comparison, use the pic in my sig for the early wheels and use an above pic with the late wheels.

Macon is the halfway point between Albany and Atlanta. I'm about 90 miles south of Columbus and I guess about 110 miles south of Macon. I think I remember seeing Reynolds on a map before, somewhere between Macon and Atlanta, am I right?

Oh yeah, does anybody want to sell me some 85-87 IROC wheels anytime soon? I want to polish them!

The 89 15x7 IROC wheels are an exact replica of the 16x8 IROC wheels. Not the Z28.

I'm keeping my wheels, so don't bother asking me if you see my car ever posted... I've been asked 2 times now if I wanted to trade for some GTA wheels... I love these wheels though.

BTW Welcome Back CamaroChick, I thought they'd scared you off... or was it someone else? Well always good to have girls on here to get people to stop scratchin' their *****!

I was simply noting that most of the time girls come on here and get totally dissed by some *******s and then never come back... I'm always glad to see people that don't let others discourage their interests...

I'll have to come check it out. I guess you've never heard of US19 Dragway? It's down the road from my house, only an 1/8 mile though. Hey, didn't I talk to you one time about buying some Z28 wheels? Think I did...

Hmmm, I remember someone planning to buy my 91 wheels awhile back, but I had believe he lived in alabama. Not sure though.

I think it was me. Didn't one of the wheels have a decent sized gouge in it? And you had some nice tires on them?

Funny how things work themselves out sometimes. Good thing cause now I want IROC wheels. How's the polishing coming along?

I know what you mean. I started ploishing my RS wheels just to make them look half decent and I found out that it takes alot of time and patience to do it right. The hardest part is sanding, the more you sand the better they will look. Polishing is the easy part. Masking and painting is hard too if you rush....
Take your time and they'll be looking good soon!

Jus to clarify, and to get back on track. I argued about the 15/16 inch iroc wheels till I was blue in the face...and then had to suck it up when I was proven wrong. Chevy did offer IDENTICAL 15 and 16 inck iroc rims..NOT Z28 rims. I don't know years and stuff...but I've seen 'em now and again
