great googaly moogaly! a sun roof, why couldn't camaro's come with those also..

anyways the rims she has on her car look like chrome prime rims, I can get a set of 4 aluminum ones 16x8 for like $250 a set. if there not primes well they sure as hell look like them

i'm even thinking of going with those instead of IROC-Z rims for my conversion.

I don't think any camaros or firebirds came with sunroofs, for the reason that they weaken the hell out of the frame, much more so than T-tops. These cars were MADE for T-tops, that bar in the middle on T-Top cars is still in the middle on non T-Top cars. If you cut that out by throwing in a sunroof it weakens the crap out of the car. This was brought up before in the Restoration/History board.

As far as I know, they didn't come with sunroofs. I did have one professionally installed on my 90 model though. I was worried about structural integrity also, but I didn't have any probs with mine. As a matter of fact, I couldn't tell any difference in the chassis at all. I loved that sunroof,..........it never leaked.

I was closely examining that yellow TA and I gotta ask, are those black PMD seats? I'm gonna get some grey one's from a junkyard for my T/A and am I correct to assume they were an 82 option only??

My moms 84 had a sunroof installed at the Van Nuys dealer when we bought it and was ready 3 days later. Pretty sweet, but I barely remember how it latches and operated. It sure was neat though. Never been in a T-TOP camaro but I'm sure its a lot better.

Adding a Sunroof to an Fbody would be dangerous if your car were to roll over in an accident.

lol..well I could imagine it's probably alot better than Convertables or T-Tops as far as rollover safety goes....but then again how often does anyone roll a thirdgen f-body?

Hey, that's my car!

I read the post and was going to post a pic of my car- but 82 Firebird already did.

When that pic was taken the car still had the original 1983 bumper support and impact absorber (both with serious ghetto modifications). The bumper was unstable at speed and the original headlights rubbed the front edge. Since then, I have collected all the 91-92 parts to do the conversion right.

sammycalderon: Thanks for the kind words... I'd like to see the car finished too! I'm hoping to finish it over the winter, but I've been saying that since 1995.

Years owned: 7
Miles Driven with V6: 800
Miles Driven with 383: 1000
Miles Driven in company cars since 1995: 180,000

It seems my priorities are a bit screwed-up...

sammy: You can't just change the bumper cover, you have to change the impact bar and impact absorber (honeycomb) or it won't bolt up. The old headlights will hit the front edge of the newer bumper cover, so you gotta get 91-92 headlights. The turn signals are now lower in the new bumper, so plan on extending the wiring and buying the correct turn signals (unless the bumper you buy has them). Also you need the metal support that attaches the front edge of the bumper cover to the metal panel that has the hood latch through it.

Being as the parts are now 10-11 years old, it shouldn't be such a big deal. I bought my 91 nose in 1995 when the stuff was harder to find and more expensive. Of course in Chile I'm sure you'll have even a harder time than I did!

Yes it really is a 82! Well I bouht the car that way. I know that the bits that I circeled out on the pic where cut from the original nose and "welded" with the new nose.

Yeah, how bout it? I resized the pic of my car in the reader's rides section which 82 firebird linked it to and I screwed-up his link. Now the picture shows someone else's car (which doesn't have a 91-92 nose on it).

Here's the actual pic:

Here is a picture of my '84 T/A with a 89 Front end. I don't much like the 91-92 front though I love the Aero Wing on the back. The only problem I have had, has been getting the fog lights to match up right. For some reason, even though everything bolted up right, the fog lights sit 1 inch too low in the front. Sorry for the link, I couldn't get the picture to be any smaller than HUGE....
